How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026

Lee College asks international applicants living outside the US for proof of high school completion through an evaluation from a NACES-approved agency, and recommends SpanTran (The Evaluation Company) through a discounted Lee College application; it publishes no translation rule of its own.

Lee College's evaluation agencies, such as WES and ECE, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. The translation goes to the agency first; the evaluation is something we do not produce.

Lee College requirements in detail

Translation

No rule of its own; the evaluation agency needs the translation (International students).

Who may translate

Set by the agency; see below.

Evaluation

Proof of high school completion through an evaluation from a NACES-approved agency (International students).

Recommended agency

SpanTran (The Evaluation Company), with a discounted Lee College application (International students).

Funds

Original bank statements or a certified bank letter showing $16,000 a year (International students).

Deadlines

All documents by July 1 for fall and November 1 for spring (International students).

What the evaluation agencies ask for the translation

SpanTran, now The Evaluation Company, the service Lee College recommends, wants an outside translator certified by the American Translators Association or translates in-house; for TEC, ask eVerbary for a free quote and say it is for TEC, and we assign a translator individually certified by ATA.

Any other NACES-approved agency is accepted: WES wants a word-for-word translation by a professional translator, and ECE accepts any complete, literal translation or translates internally for an $85 waiver.

Lee College's steps for students abroad

Students outside the US apply through ApplyTexas, prove high school completion with the evaluation, show English proficiency (citizens of some countries are exempt), prove funds, send a passport scan and the signed supplemental application and statement of understanding; Lee then issues the I-20 and admission letter by mail (International students).

Transfers from a US college send that college's transcript and the F-1 transfer-in form instead of the high school evaluation.

Translate your high school diploma and transcripts before you open the agency file, so the evaluation is not delayed past July 1.

Documents applicants usually translate

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

Uploading the translation to Lee College

  • The translation goes to the evaluation agency with your records (through Lee's SpanTran application, for example); the agency sends the evaluation to Lee College Admissions (International students).

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For Lee College that means we translate your high school records; the evaluation is ordered by you from SpanTran or another NACES member.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
