How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026
Hartnell College asks F-1 applicants to send their high school and college transcripts as an English translated transcript evaluated by a transcript evaluation service; it does not say who must translate and endorses no particular service.
Hartnell College accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
The evaluation itself comes from an evaluation service, and credit for college work abroad needs a course-by-course report with semester units and letter grades, which we do not produce.
Hartnell at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
Hartnell's international application asks for an English translated transcript, evaluated by a transcript evaluation service, without saying who must translate (international admissions application); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. Translated and evaluated, at the application stage
Most California community colleges ask for an evaluation only for credit.
Hartnell's international admissions application asks for it up front: original transcripts from high school and college, sent as an English translated transcript that has been evaluated by a transcript evaluation service.
The order matters: translate first, then send the original and the translation to the evaluation service, so the report reaches Hartnell with the packet.
Hartnell names no agency and, on its evaluation of records page, says it does not endorse any.
Evaluation agencies set their own translation rules: WES wants a word-for-word translation by a professional translator and does not accept one made by the applicant; ECE wants a complete, word-for-word translation in the same format as the original; IERF wants typed, line-by-line translations.
See translation for credential evaluation. Financial documents must already be in English and dated within three months.
Credit for college work abroad
To receive credit for college courses taken outside the US, you file a Request for Transfer Credit Evaluation with official foreign transcripts and an official evaluation from a credential evaluation service, with course-by-course reports, semester unit equivalencies and letter grades; detailed course descriptions, or the college catalog in English, may be required (Evaluation of records: students with foreign credit).
Hartnell makes the final decision on each course. Foreign transcripts cannot be used for IGETC (other than waiving the foreign language requirement) or for CSU General Education certification, and the evaluation is advisory for students who later transfer.

Uploading the translation to Hartnell
Send your original records and the certified translation to the evaluation service you choose; then submit the packet, with the evaluated transcript, to Hartnell by email to IntlStud@hartnell.edu or by mail (International admissions application).
For credit later, the Request for Transfer Credit Evaluation, the official foreign transcripts and the course-by-course report go to Admissions & Records (Evaluation of records: students with foreign credit).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For Hartnell that means we translate your transcripts, diplomas and course descriptions; the evaluation that must accompany them comes from an evaluation service you choose.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Which evaluation service does Hartnell accept?
It names none and does not endorse any particular service (Evaluation of records: students with foreign credit).
Who can translate my transcript for Hartnell?
Hartnell does not say (International admissions application). A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary qualifies, and is what you send to the evaluation service.

Course-by-course results with semester unit equivalencies and letter grades (Evaluation of records: students with foreign credit).
Do my bank documents need to be in English?
