How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026
Georgia Southwestern State University publishes no translation rule: international applicants have records from outside the US evaluated by a NACES or AICE member, document by document for the high school record and course by course for college coursework, and the agency sends the original evaluation directly to GSW.
GSW's evaluation agencies, such as WES, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary; Josef Silny and SpanTran ask for ATA-certified translators, whom eVerbary can assign on request.
You order the translation first, then the evaluation, which we do not provide.

GSW requirements in detail
Translation
GSW states no translation rule; records from outside the US reach it only through an agency evaluation (International students: undergraduate).
Who may translate
Set by the agency: WES accepts a professional service; Josef Silny and SpanTran ask for ATA-certified translators.
Freshmen
A document-by-document evaluation of the secondary transcript, covering the equivalent of 9th through 12th grade, after you finish high school (International students: undergraduate).
Transfers
A course-by-course evaluation of all college transcripts from abroad; with fewer than 30 transfer hours, the high school record and its evaluation too (International students: undergraduate).
Graduate
Evaluations from NACES members, with the same three agencies named (graduate international).
Processing
No application is considered until every item is in; allow at least four weeks (International students: undergraduate).
What the agencies ask for the translation
GSW often receives evaluations from Josef Silny, WES and SpanTran, and its custom SpanTran and Josef Silny applications save $10 to $20 (International students: undergraduate).
The cheaper forms come with a stricter translation rule: Josef Silny & Associates asks for translations made in the US by ATA-certified translators, and SpanTran, now The Evaluation Company, accepts outside translations only from ATA-certified translators. eVerbary can assign an ATA-certified translator on request (see below).
WES accepts a word-for-word translation by a professional translator or translation service, not by the applicant, and ECE, another NACES member, accepts any complete, word-for-word translation. Choose the agency first, then order the translation that matches its rule.
Freshman, transfer and graduate reports
A freshman report has to show the equivalent of 9th through 12th grade, so translate every year of your secondary transcript and the high school diploma, and submit for the final evaluation after you graduate (International students: undergraduate).
Transfers with college work abroad need a course-by-course report of all college transcripts. The graduate page names NACES members only, while the undergraduate page also accepts AICE members (graduate).
Need a certified translation for GSW?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.
Documents applicants usually translate
- Secondary school transcripts for every year, and the diploma
- College or university transcripts, for the course-by-course report
- Degree certificates, for graduate applicants
- Bank letter or statement, if not in English
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to GSW
The translation goes to the agency with your records; the agency sends the original evaluation directly to GSW's Office of Admissions (International students: undergraduate).
Financial documents and the passport copy for the I-20 can be sent by mail or email and cannot be dated more than 12 months before your term (International students: undergraduate). On request we can email the translation directly to the admissions office.
If you need a translator certified by ATA
Some offices accept only a translator who is personally certified by the American Translators Association (ATA). eVerbary assigns one on request, for the languages ATA certifies into English:
$34.95 per page
Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian
$44.95 per page
Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian
To order it, ask for a free quote and write in the notes that the translation is for GSW, which program it is for, and that you need a translator individually certified by ATA, plus anything else the office asks for (notarization, delivery by email to the office).
We confirm the price and the translator before you pay. ATA does not certify other languages into English, so no translator anywhere holds ATA certification for them.
For those languages we provide a notarized certified translation instead, at $44.95 per page plus notarization ($34.90 per order); ask the office to confirm it accepts that, and write its answer in the quote notes.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For GSW that means we translate your records; the document-by-document or course-by-course evaluation is ordered by you from a NACES or AICE member.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does GSW require a certified translation?
GSW itself publishes no translation rule; it requires an evaluation from a NACES or AICE member (International students: undergraduate), and the agency asks for the translation.
Which evaluation does a freshman need?
A document-by-document evaluation of the high school transcript covering 9th through 12th grade (International students: undergraduate).
Should I use the custom SpanTran or Josef Silny application?
It saves $10 to $20 (International students: undergraduate), but both agencies want an ATA-certified translator for outside translations.
Can eVerbary provide an ATA-certified translator for GSW?
Yes, on request, for SpanTran or Josef Silny. Ask for a free quote and say the translation is for that agency for Georgia Southwestern. ATA certifies Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian ($34.95 per page) and Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian ($44.95 per page) into English; no other languages.
How long does GSW take?
Allow at least four weeks after every item is received (International students: undergraduate).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
