Genesee Community College asks F-1 degree applicants to upload official high school transcripts with a certified English translation if needed; it does not say who must translate.
Genesee Community College accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. GCC also links World Education Services and SpanTran for foreign transcripts; those evaluations are something we do not provide.
GCC at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
GCC's international page lists official high school transcripts "with certified English translation if needed" (international students), without restricting who translates; a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. A short list, with the translation on the first line
GCC keeps its F-1 checklist short: apply, then upload in the application portal your official high school transcripts with a certified English translation if needed, proof of funding, a passport copy and proof of English proficiency (International students).
The translation is tied to the transcript, so translate every year of it, the grading scale and the high school diploma if the transcript does not show graduation.
If you also go through WES or SpanTran
Among its application links, GCC offers to receive foreign high school or college transcripts through World Education Services and foreign high school transcripts through SpanTran, without saying when that is required (International students).
Ask GCC International Admissions (gccint@genesee.edu) before paying for one.
If you do, each agency has its own translation rule. WES accepts a word-for-word translation from a professional translator or translation agency, uploaded in your WES account (WES).
SpanTran, now The Evaluation Company, accepts outside translations only from an ATA-certified translator (TEC); eVerbary can provide one on request through a free quote.
Need a certified translation for GCC?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.
Documents applicants usually translate
- High school transcripts, every year
- High school diploma or graduation certificate
- Bank statements or sponsor letters, if not in English
- College transcripts, if any
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to GCC
Upload the transcripts and their certified translations with the rest of your documents in the GCC application portal (International students). Questions go to International Admissions at gccint@genesee.edu.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For GCC that means we translate your transcripts and diploma; a WES or SpanTran evaluation, if you need one, is ordered by you from the agency.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does Genesee Community College need a certified translation?
Yes, for high school transcripts not in English: a certified English translation (International students).
Who can translate my transcripts for GCC?
GCC does not say (International students). A certified translation from a professional service qualifies.
Do I need a WES evaluation for GCC?
GCC links WES and SpanTran for foreign transcripts but does not say when an evaluation is required (International students); ask International Admissions first.
Where do I upload my translation?
In your GCC application portal, with the other documents (International students).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
