How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026
SUNY Erie asks F-1 applicants for the original high school diploma and transcript, or certified true copies, and says every document must be in English or accompanied by a notarized translation; it does not say who must translate.
SUNY Erie Community College accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary, and we add notarization for $34.90 per order.
SUNY Erie lists no credential evaluation for admission, so the translated records go straight to International Student Services.

A notarized translation next to a stamped original
SUNY Erie's International Student Services asks for the original high school diploma or graduation certificate and the original transcript showing classes and grades.
Certified true copies are accepted only when each page is stamped and signed by the school official; regular copies and scans are not (International students).
Under the same list, the page says every document must be in English or accompanied by a notarized translation.
So the translation has to match a document that is itself official: translate every stamped page of the certified copy, including the official's signature block, and order notarization with it.
An eVerbary translation is certified and signed, and notarization is added at checkout for $34.90 per order.
No credential evaluation, but a bank letter and placement
Unlike many SUNY colleges, SUNY Erie lists no credential evaluation among the F-1 documents (International students): it reviews the translated diploma and transcript itself.
The financial proof is strict too: an original signed letter on bank letterhead showing $23,700, not a bank statement and not a copy. If the letter is in another language, it needs the same notarized translation.
Residents and US citizens apply through regular admissions. SUNY Erie sends students with a foreign high school transcript to placement testing, unless they apply on a non-immigrant visa (how to apply), so keep your translated high school diploma and transcript at hand for that step too.

Uploading the translation to SUNY Erie
Apply online (no fee), then upload the documents and their notarized translations to your application, or mail originals to International Student Services, North Campus, 6205 Main Street, Room S203, Williamsville, NY 14221.
SUNY Erie suggests sending documents as they are ready; it matches them to your file (International students).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
