How we know · policy checked on October 21, 2026
Florida Gulf Coast University does not evaluate foreign transcripts on campus: international undergraduates send their records to a NACES evaluation agency, which mails the report directly to FGCU, for admission and for transfer credit.
FGCU's evaluation agencies, such as WES and ECE, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
You order the translation first and send it to the agency with your records; transfer students also send FGCU an English translation of the syllabi of the courses they want credit for.

Worth knowing about FGCU
No on-campus evaluation
A NACES agency evaluates your records.
By postal mail
The report counts only if the agency mails it.
Syllabi in English
For each course you want transfer credit for.
FGCU requirements in detail
Translation of academic records
FGCU publishes no translator rule for undergraduate records; transcripts not in English must come with a certified evaluation (International FAQ).
Who may translate
Set by the evaluation agency you choose; see "What each evaluation agency asks for the translation" below.
Evaluation (undergraduate)
From a NACES member. High school: document-by-document with GPA usually enough; college: course-by-course with GPA, and upper-level courses identified (International student application process).
Official delivery
The agency must mail the report directly to FGCU; that is what makes it official (International student application process).
Transfer credit
An original evaluation of the courses taken and an English translation of the syllabi of courses for which credit is wanted (International student admissions).
High school GPA
If the evaluation has no GPA, first-time students must meet ACT 21 or SAT 1060 (International student admissions).
Graduate applicants
A certified English translation of all academic documents not in English and a copy of the diploma; FGCU may ask for a NACES course-by-course evaluation, recommending WES ICAP (Graduate admission requirements).
What each evaluation agency asks for the translation
WES asks for an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator and does not accept translations by applicants (WES).
ECE accepts a complete, literal, word-for-word translation in the same format as the original and lets applicants translate their own documents; it also sells an $85 waiver under which it translates for its report only, without giving you a translation you can reuse (ECE).
IERF accepts translations but may ask for professional ones, and some countries require them (IERF). FGCU lets you choose any NACES member, so check the agency's own page before ordering; a certified translation from a professional service meets all three.
Undergraduate: the report arrives by mail, and syllabi need English
FGCU's application steps say a foreign transcript is official only when the evaluation comes directly from the agency by postal mail, so tell the agency to issue the report to FGCU.
For high school, a document-by-document evaluation with GPA is usually enough; FGCU recommends course-by-course, and if your evaluation shows no GPA you must meet the minimum ACT (21) or SAT (1060) score (International student admissions).
For transfer credit, FGCU also asks for an English translation of the syllabi of the courses for which you want credit, alongside the evaluation; academic departments may still deny credit for coursework that does not apply to them (International student admissions).
FGCU does not say who must translate the syllabi. We translate them like any other document, per page of up to 250 words.
Where FGCU's graduate pages differ
The graduate admission requirements ask for a certified English translation of all academic documents not in English, without saying who makes it.
The graduate application process page asks for original-language transcripts and a certified English translation "from a NACES-approved agency".
The graduate FAQ asks for a NACES course-by-course evaluation when a degree was earned, and an official translation when it was not.
We have not resolved this for you. If you are applying to a graduate program, ask Graduate Admissions at grad_docs@fgcu.edu whether a certified translation from a professional service is enough, or whether it should come with the evaluation.

Uploading the translation to FGCU
Undergraduates send the translation to the NACES agency with their records; the agency mails the evaluation directly to FGCU Undergraduate Admissions (International student application process).
Syllabi translations for transfer credit go to FGCU with the evaluation (International student admissions).
Graduate applicants email PDFs to grad_docs@fgcu.edu, citing full name and date of birth, or mail them to FGCU Graduate Admissions, 10501 FGCU Blvd. S., Fort Myers, FL 33965-6565 (Graduate application process).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For FGCU that means we translate your records and syllabi; the NACES evaluation is ordered by you from the agency after the translation, and the agency mails it to FGCU.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does FGCU evaluate my foreign transcript itself?
No. FGCU says it does not evaluate foreign credentials or transcripts on campus and points applicants to NACES agencies (International student admissions).
Who translates my records for the evaluation?
The agency's rules apply: WES, for example, wants a professional translation (WES: translation requirements), and ECE accepts any word-for-word translation (ECE: documentation requirements).
Is a document-by-document evaluation enough for high school?
Usually, if it includes a GPA; without one you need ACT 21 or SAT 1060 (International student admissions, International student application process).
Do I need to translate my course syllabi?
Yes, for transfer credit FGCU asks for an English translation of the syllabi of courses for which you want credit (International student admissions).
Which agency does FGCU recommend for graduate programs?
When it asks for a NACES evaluation, FGCU recommends WES ICAP (Graduate admission requirements).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
