How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026
Eastern Oregon University asks international first-year and transfer applicants for official transcripts submitted in English and evaluated by WES, SpanTran or another NACES-approved organization; it does not say who translates.
EOU's evaluation agencies, such as WES, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
You order the translation first and send it to the agency; the agency writes the evaluation, which we do not provide.

EOU requirements in detail
Translation
Official transcripts must be submitted in English (EOU: international admissions); EOU does not say who translates.
Who may translate
Set by the evaluation agency; WES accepts a professional translator or service and not the applicant.
Evaluation
Transcripts evaluated by WES, SpanTran (now The Evaluation Company) or another NACES-approved organization (EOU: international admissions).
First-year
The equivalent of a standard US high school diploma, non-standard diplomas not recognized, and a 2.75 GPA equivalent on a 4.00 scale (EOU: international admissions).
Transfer
A 2.25 cumulative GPA equivalent from an accredited college; under 30 transferable credits, first-year rules apply as well (EOU: international admissions).
Finances
Affidavit of Support and bank statements no older than six months, for on-campus applicants; $90 application fee (EOU: international admissions).
What each evaluation agency asks for the translation
EOU names two agencies and opens the door to any NACES member (international admissions).
WES wants a word-for-word translation by a professional translator or translation service, does not accept translations by applicants and does not translate documents itself.
SpanTran, now The Evaluation Company, asks for an outside translator certified by the American Translators Association, or translates through its own team; for TEC, eVerbary can assign an ATA-certified translator through a free quote, for the languages ATA certifies.
ECE, also a NACES member, takes complete, literal translations in the original's format, lets applicants translate themselves, and sells an $85 Translation Waiver.
What the evaluation has to show
The evaluation is how EOU checks its minimums: a first-year applicant needs the equivalent of a standard US high school diploma and a 2.75 GPA, and EOU does not recognize modified, honorary or other non-standard diplomas (EOU: international admissions).
A transfer applicant needs a 2.25 GPA from an accredited college, and with fewer than 30 transferable credits must meet the first-year rules too, so translate both the college and the secondary records.
EOU also admits online students as international applicants; for them the affidavit and passport are not required.

What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to EOU
The translation goes to WES or the NACES agency you choose, with your records; the agency sends its evaluation to EOU's Office of Admissions. Questions go to international@eou.edu (EOU: international admissions).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For EOU that means we translate your records for WES or another NACES agency; the evaluation is ordered by you.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
