How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026

Dominican University of California requires every international applicant, undergraduate, graduate or adult degree completion, to submit a course-by-course credential evaluation with a GPA; it encourages WES ICAP, which can also fulfill the official transcript requirement, and accepts any NACES or AICE member.

Dominican's evaluation agencies, such as WES and ECE, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.

You translate first and send the translation to the agency; the evaluation is something we do not provide.

Dominican at a glance

Does it accept eVerbary? Yes

Dominican requires a course-by-course evaluation and encourages WES ICAP, also accepting NACES and AICE members (transcript submissions), and WES accepts a certified translation from a professional translation service (WES translation rules); ECE does as well, while TEC asks for a translator certified by ATA. Dominican requirements in detail

Translation

No standalone translator rule; foreign transcripts must reach Dominican in English, and the evaluation agency sets the translation rule.

Who may translate

Set by the agency. WES and ECE accept a professional translation; TEC asks for an ATA-certified translator.

Evaluation

Course by course with a GPA, required for undergraduate, graduate and adult degree completion; delivered directly to Admissions with a copy of the evaluated transcripts (Transcript submissions).

Agencies

WES through ICAP encouraged; any NACES or AICE member also accepted; TEC is mentioned on the international page (transcripts, international).

India

Graduate applicants with a three-year Indian degree must use WES; Dominican accepts it if WES recognizes it (Transcript submissions).

Official transcripts

Mailed sealed from the institution; scans are not accepted for foreign transcripts; WES ICAP delivers them electronically (Transcript submissions).

Deadlines (F-1 from abroad)

July 1 for fall, November 1 for spring, March 1 for summer (Transcript submissions).

Why WES ICAP is the simple path at Dominican

Dominican's transcript submissions page asks international applicants for two things: official foreign transcripts in English, mailed directly from the institution in a sealed envelope, and a course-by-course credential evaluation with GPA, delivered directly to Admissions with a copy of the transcripts that were evaluated.

It encourages WES and its ICAP report, and notes that the WES ICAP evaluation can fulfill the official transcript requirement because WES delivers the official transcripts electronically with the evaluation.

With ICAP, the official transcripts reach Dominican electronically with the evaluation, and you upload the certified translation in your WES account.

Other NACES or AICE members are also accepted, but then the sealed transcript from your school must reach Dominican separately. For the school record, see high school diploma translation.

What each evaluation agency asks for the translation

WES wants an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator, such as a certified translation agency, and does not accept translations by applicants.

ECE accepts complete, word-for-word translations in the same format as the original, or sells an $85 waiver under which it translates internally for the report.

The Evaluation Company, which Dominican's international page also mentions, accepts outside translations only from ATA-certified translators, or translates in-house; eVerbary can assign an ATA-certified translator on request.

Dominican's sentence that foreign transcripts "must be translated into English and mailed directly from the institution" can be read as asking the school itself for an English version.

If your school does not issue one, ask Admissions whether the WES ICAP route, with your certified translation, covers it.

Need a certified translation for Dominican?

$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.

Documents applicants usually translate

  • High school transcripts, grades 9 to 12, with graduation date
  • University transcripts and degree certificates
  • Financial documents for the I-20

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

Uploading the translation to Dominican

  • Upload the certified translation to WES (or send it to the NACES or AICE agency you chose) with your records; the agency delivers the evaluation to Dominican's Office of Admissions in San Rafael (Transcript submissions).

If you need a translator certified by ATA

Some offices accept only a translator who is personally certified by the American Translators Association (ATA). eVerbary assigns one on request, for the languages ATA certifies into English:

$34.95 per page

Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian

$44.95 per page

Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian

To order it, ask for a free quote and write in the notes that the translation is for Dominican, which program it is for, and that you need a translator individually certified by ATA, plus anything else the office asks for (notarization, delivery by email to the office).

We confirm the price and the translator before you pay. ATA does not certify other languages into English, so no translator anywhere holds ATA certification for them.

For those languages we provide a notarized certified translation instead, at $44.95 per page plus notarization ($34.90 per order); ask the office to confirm it accepts that, and write its answer in the quote notes.

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For Dominican that means we translate your records for the agency; the course-by-course evaluation, ideally WES ICAP, is ordered by you.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
