How we know · policy checked on October 21, 2026
DePaul University asks international first-year applicants whose transcripts or exam results are not in English to send the original-language documents with word-for-word English translations of every page; the page does not say who must translate.
DePaul University accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
Its transfer page goes further for course descriptions, asking for word-for-word translations stamped by the translation service, while university transcripts go to Educational Perspectives, ECE or One Earth for a course-by-course evaluation, which we do not provide.
DePaul at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
DePaul's international freshman page asks for word-for-word English translations of all pages without restricting who makes them (freshman requirements), and its transfer page refers to translations stamped by the translation service (transfer requirements); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets both. Worth knowing about DePaul
Every page, word for word
Original-language documents plus a translation of each page.
English-issued records
No translation when the school issued them in English.
Free graduate evaluation
DePaul evaluates foreign degrees itself for admission.
DePaul requirements in detail
Translation (first-year)
Word-for-word English translations of all pages submitted, along with the original-language documents (International freshman admission).
Who may translate
Not stated for first-year records. For course descriptions requested after admission: official word-for-word translations stamped by the translation service (International transfer admission).
Records issued in English
No translation needed when the school or testing agency issued them in English; DePaul lists countries where that is typical and accepts the English transcript as official (International freshman admission).
Transfer evaluation
Course-by-course from Educational Perspectives, Educational Credential Evaluators or One Earth for any university credit abroad; not required for DePaul's international transfer partner institutions (International transfer admission).
Graduate applicants
Free course-by-course evaluation by DePaul from documents uploaded in the original language with English translation as needed; or opt out and use a listed agency (Liberal Arts and Social Sciences: graduate international admission).
How to send
Email to international@depaul.edu, Naviance or Parchment, SCRIP-SAFE, or mail to International Admission, 1 East Jackson Boulevard, Suite 9300, Chicago (International freshman admission).
First-year deadlines
Early Action November 15; Regular Notification February 1; School of Music December 1; The Theatre School January 15 (International freshman admission).
When you need no translation at all
DePaul's freshman page is one of the few that tells you when a translation is not needed. If your school or testing agency issued the transcript or exam results in English, you send them as they are.
It names countries where that is typical, among them India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Ethiopia, South Africa, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Israel, and accepts the English transcript as official without a native-language version (International freshman admission).
Students from any other country send official transcripts in the native language with word-for-word English translations, and also need proof of English proficiency. Word for word means every page, including stamps, the grading key and notes on the back, so count them when you order.
Transfers: evaluation first, stamped course descriptions later
If you studied at a university abroad, however little, DePaul wants a course-by-course evaluation from Educational Perspectives, Educational Credential Evaluators or One Earth International Credential Evaluations.
You apply to the agency, pay its fee and send your records; the agency then sends the evaluation, your university transcripts and their translations to International Admission (International transfer admission).
Students at an international transfer partner institution send only their transcript.
After admission, the Transfer Articulation Center (TrAC) may ask for official course descriptions or syllabi of the courses taken abroad, with official word-for-word English translations stamped by the translation service, sent to trac@depaul.edu (International transfer admission).
A certified translation from a professional service comes with a signed certificate of accuracy; if you are unsure whether that meets TrAC's "stamped" wording, ask trac@depaul.edu before you order.
Graduate applicants: DePaul evaluates for free
DePaul's graduate colleges run their own free course-by-course evaluation for coursework completed outside the US, usable for DePaul admission only.
You upload complete academic documents for every post-secondary level, in the original language with English translation as needed, and the $75 international application fee must be paid before the evaluation starts (Liberal Arts and Social Sciences).
The College of Computing and Digital Media says the same: official credentials in the original language with English translations (CDM).
If you opt out, the agency list depends on the college.
Liberal Arts and Social Sciences names One Earth, ECE and Educational Perspectives and accepts a general evaluation with degree and GPA (Liberal Arts and Social Sciences: graduate international admission); the College of Education adds WES or any other NACES member and wants a course-by-course report (College of Education: graduate international students).
Educational Perspectives accepts translations from a reputable agency or a certified, professional translator (EP); ECE accepts any complete, word-for-word translation, even your own (ECE); One Earth usually lets applicants translate their own records (One Earth).
Need a certified translation for DePaul?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.
Documents applicants usually translate
- Secondary school transcripts and leaving exam results, every page

- University transcripts and degree certificates, for the evaluation
- Course descriptions or syllabi requested by TrAC after admission
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to DePaul
First-year applicants send transcripts, exam results and their English translations by email to international@depaul.edu, through Naviance, Parchment or SCRIP-SAFE, or by mail to International Admission; originals mailed in can be returned if you ask in a cover letter (International freshman admission).
Graduate applicants upload documents and translations in the online application for DePaul's free evaluation (Liberal Arts and Social Sciences: graduate international admission); transfers send translations to the evaluation agency, and course description translations to trac@depaul.edu when asked (International transfer admission).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For DePaul that means we translate your transcripts, exam results and course descriptions; the course-by-course evaluation for transfers, or an outside evaluation for graduate applicants who opt out, comes from the agency.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does DePaul need a translation if my transcript is in English already?
No. If the school or testing agency issued it in English, no additional translation is needed (International freshman admission).
Who can translate my documents for DePaul?
The freshman page asks for word-for-word translations without naming a translator (International freshman admission); for course descriptions TrAC asks for translations stamped by the translation service (International transfer admission). A certified translation from eVerbary fits both.
Which agency should I use as a transfer student?
Educational Perspectives, ECE or One Earth, course-by-course; not needed if you come from a DePaul international transfer partner (International transfer admission).
Do graduate applicants have to pay for an evaluation?
No. DePaul evaluates foreign coursework for free for its own admission, from documents uploaded in the original language with English translations (Liberal Arts and Social Sciences: graduate international admission).
Will DePaul return my original documents?
Only if you ask for them in a cover letter when you mail them; otherwise they become DePaul's property (International freshman admission).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
