How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026

The College of Southern Maryland asks F-1 applicants for proof of high school completion, a transcript, diploma, certificate or exam scores, and says it must be translated to English; it does not say who must translate.

College of Southern Maryland accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. College transcripts from outside the US must be evaluated by WES, ECE or Josef Silny & Associates, which we do not do.

CSM at a glance

Does it accept eVerbary? Yes

CSM's international admissions packet asks for proof of high school completion translated to English and does not restrict who translates (admissions packet); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. Policy checked on October 26, 2026.

CSM requirements in detail

Translation

Proof of high school completion must be translated to English (International student admissions packet).

Who may translate

What counts as proof

A high school transcript, diploma, certificate or exam scores, in the packet or by email to csminternational@csmd.edu (international students).

College transcripts from abroad

Evaluated by World Education Services, Educational Credential Evaluators or Josef Silny & Associates, sent directly to CSM; syllabi may be requested (International student admissions packet).

Identity

Passport copy; optionally a birth certificate, stamped and apostilled by your home country, or another photo ID (International student admissions packet).

Financial

Bank statements dated within the last three months showing at least $25,000 (International student admissions packet).

Proof of high school, in English

CSM is flexible about which document proves high school completion, a transcript, a diploma, a certificate or exam scores, but asks that it be translated to English (admissions packet).

You can include it in the International Student Admissions Packet or email it to csminternational@csmd.edu, so a certified PDF is the easiest format. See high school diploma translation.

If you add a birth certificate as extra identification, CSM asks that it be stamped and apostilled by your home country; we translate the certificate and the apostille, but the apostille itself is issued in your country (International student admissions packet).

College work abroad: WES, ECE or Josef Silny

For college transcripts from outside the US, CSM accepts only three evaluators, and each sets its translation rule (International student admissions packet).

WES wants a word-for-word professional translation; ECE accepts a complete, literal translation, including your own, or sells an $85 waiver; Josef Silny & Associates accepts outside translators in the US only if ATA-certified, and translates in-house. eVerbary can assign an ATA-certified translator on request through a free quote.

Transfer credit also needs CSM's transcript evaluation request (International students).

Need a certified translation for CSM?

$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.

Documents applicants usually translate

  • High school diploma or completion certificate
  • High school transcripts or national exam results
  • Birth certificate and its apostille (optional identification)
  • College transcripts, for WES, ECE or Josef Silny

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

Uploading the translation to CSM

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For CSM that means we translate your high school proof and other records; the WES, ECE or Josef Silny evaluation of college work is ordered by you.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Does CSM accept a translation from a translation company?

CSM asks that proof of high school completion be translated to English and does not say by whom (International student admissions packet). A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets that wording.

Which document proves high school completion?

A transcript, diploma, certificate or exam scores (International students).

Which agencies evaluate college transcripts for CSM?

WES, ECE or Josef Silny & Associates, sent directly to CSM (International student admissions packet).

Does my birth certificate need an apostille?

Only if you submit it as extra identification: CSM asks that it be stamped and apostilled by your home country (International student admissions packet).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
