How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026
College of Lake County publishes no translation rule of its own: transcripts from colleges or universities abroad must be evaluated by a NACES member, and for transfer credit the report must be a catalog match evaluation, which Educational Perspectives currently provides.
CLC's evaluation agency, Educational Perspectives, accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
You order the translation first and send it to Educational Perspectives with your records; the evaluation itself is something we do not provide.

Worth knowing about CLC
Catalog match
The only evaluation type CLC uses for credit.
One agency
Educational Perspectives currently provides it.
Sent directly
The report must come to CLC from the agency.
CLC requirements in detail
Translation
CLC states no translation rule; foreign college and university transcripts reach it through a NACES evaluation (How to apply). The agency asks for the translation.
Who may translate
Set by Educational Perspectives: a reputable translation agency or a certified, professional translator (EP).
Evaluation
Foreign college or university transcripts must be evaluated by a NACES member; for possible transfer credit the type must be a catalog match evaluation, currently from Educational Perspectives (How to apply).
Delivery
The evaluation must be sent to CLC directly to be considered official (credit for prior learning).
F-1 school records
A copy of the secondary school certificate or high school diploma, or secondary exam results; current high school students may send a signed school letter with the expected graduation date (International students, F-1 application).
English
Not required for admission; TOEFL iBT 71 or IELTS 6.0 places you in regular academic classes, otherwise English Language Instruction (International students).
Questions
International transcripts: your College and Career Navigator; F-1 applications: international@clcillinois.edu (How to apply, international students).
One evaluation type, one agency
Most colleges accept a course-by-course report from any NACES member.
CLC is narrower: for possible transfer credit, the evaluation type must be a catalog match evaluation, and CLC says Educational Perspectives currently provides this service (how to apply).
The report has to reach CLC directly from the agency to count as official (credit for prior learning). Before ordering, talk to your College and Career Navigator, who handles questions about international transcripts.
The rule is on CLC's general apply page, so it applies to residents and immigrants with college study abroad as well as to F-1 students, whose checklist lists an international college/university transcript evaluation among the admission items (international students).
What Educational Perspectives asks for the translation
Educational Perspectives says you do not have to use its own translation service when you order an evaluation: translations prepared by a reputable translation agency or by a certified, professional translator are accepted (EP translation services).
EP also sells ATA-certified translations, which it describes as literal and word-for-word, priced by the amount of text on each page.
Translate every page the agency will read, including grading scales and the degree certificate, so the catalog match can compare each course with CLC's catalog.
F-1 applicants with only secondary records send a copy of the diploma or exam results; CLC's F-1 pages state no translation rule for it, so ask international@clcillinois.edu whether yours needs one (see high school diploma translation).
Need a certified translation for CLC?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.
Documents applicants usually translate
- University transcripts and mark sheets, for the catalog match evaluation
- Degree or diploma certificates from a college or university abroad
- Grading scale or legend printed on the transcript
- Secondary school certificate or exam results, for the F-1 file
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to CLC
For credit, the translation is not sent to CLC: it goes to Educational Perspectives with your records, and EP sends the catalog match evaluation to CLC directly (Credit for prior learning).
F-1 applicants complete the F-1 Student Application Form with the passport copy, the diploma copy and the financial support documents; questions go to international@clcillinois.edu (International students).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For CLC that means we translate your records for Educational Perspectives; the catalog match evaluation is ordered by you from EP after the translation, and EP sends it to CLC.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does the College of Lake County require a certified translation?
CLC itself publishes no translation rule. It requires a NACES evaluation for foreign college transcripts (How to apply), and Educational Perspectives, the agency it names, accepts translations from a reputable translation agency or a certified, professional translator (EP).
Can I use WES or ECE for CLC transfer credit?
CLC accepts NACES members for the evaluation, but for transfer credit the report must be a catalog match evaluation, which it says Educational Perspectives currently provides (How to apply).
Can I bring the evaluation to CLC myself?
CLC says the evaluation must be sent to it directly to be considered official (Credit for prior learning).
Do I need TOEFL to be admitted to CLC?
No. English proficiency is not required for admission; TOEFL 71 or IELTS 6.0 qualifies you for regular academic classes (International students).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
