How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026

McHenry County College publishes no translation rule of its own: coursework completed outside the US, high school or college, must go to a NACES member for an evaluation, and for transfer credit the report must be course-by-course and accompanied by translated course descriptions.

MCC's evaluation agencies, such as WES, ECE and Educational Perspectives, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.

You order the translation first and send it to the agency with your records; the evaluation itself is something we do not provide.

MCC requirements in detail

Translation

MCC states no translation rule for admission; coursework completed outside the US reaches it through an evaluation by an organization that specializes in international transcripts (Attend MCC as an international student). The agency asks for the translation.

Who may translate

Set by the evaluation agency. WES, ECE and Educational Perspectives accept a translation from a professional service; The Evaluation Company asks for an ATA-certified translator (see below).

Evaluation

Official evaluations from any NACES member; the F-1 checklist places this rule under both high school and college transcripts (application checklist).

Transfer credit

A course-by-course report is required, translated course descriptions must accompany it, and all evaluation fees are yours (Transfer to MCC: evaluation of international credentials).

Named agencies

ECE, Educational Perspectives, International Education Evaluations, The Evaluation Company and World Education Services (Transfer to MCC: evaluation of international credentials).

Where to send

MCC Admissions, A260, 8900 US Hwy 14, Crystal Lake, IL 60012-2761, or admissions@mchenry.edu (Attend MCC as an international student).

Deadlines (F-1)

Fall: May 15, transfers June 15. Spring: October 15, transfers November 15 (Attend MCC as an international student).

What each evaluation agency asks for the translation

MCC accepts any NACES member and names five, each with its own translation rule.

WES wants an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator, such as a certified translation agency, and does not accept translations by applicants.

Educational Perspectives accepts translations from a reputable translation agency or a certified, professional translator, and also sells its own.

ECE asks for complete, word-for-word translations in the same format as the original, lets applicants prepare them themselves, and for $85 sells a Translation Waiver under which it translates internally for the report.

The Evaluation Company accepts an outside translator only if certified by the American Translators Association, or translates through its own team.

If you choose TEC, eVerbary can assign a translator individually certified by ATA on request: ask for a free quote and say it is for a TEC evaluation for MCC.

Course descriptions: the translation MCC asks for itself

For transfer credit, MCC's Credentials Evaluation Office uses the agency's course-by-course report together with the course descriptions to decide what transfers, and translated course descriptions must accompany the report (transfer to MCC).

MCC does not say who must translate them. Ask your university for the official syllabus or catalog pages for each course, and have them translated with the transcript, so the report and the descriptions arrive together. Questions go to evaluation@mchenry.edu.

The F-1 checklist asks for official high school and/or college transcripts and puts the evaluation rule right under them, so applicants who studied only at secondary level abroad should also plan for a NACES report (application checklist); see high school diploma translation.

MCC is a commuter college with no on-campus housing and limited public transportation (Attend MCC as an international student).

Uploading the translation to MCC

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For MCC that means we translate your records and course descriptions; the NACES evaluation is ordered by you from the agency after the translation.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Does McHenry County College require a certified translation?

MCC itself publishes no translation rule for admission. It requires an evaluation from a NACES member (Attend MCC as an international student), and the agency asks for the translation: WES, for example, wants one from a professional translator (WES).

Which evaluation agency should I use for MCC?

Any NACES member; MCC names ECE, Educational Perspectives, IEE, The Evaluation Company and WES (Transfer to MCC: evaluation of international credentials). Their translation rules differ, so compare them before ordering the translation.

Do I need to translate my course descriptions?

Yes, for transfer credit: translated course descriptions must accompany the course-by-course report (Transfer to MCC: evaluation of international credentials).

Can I use an eVerbary translation with The Evaluation Company?

TEC asks for an outside translator certified by ATA. eVerbary can provide one on request through a free quote, for Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian ($34.95 per page) or Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian ($44.95 per page). ATA certifies no other languages into English.

When are MCC's F-1 deadlines?

May 15 for fall and October 15 for spring; F-1 transfers have until June 15 and November 15 (Attend MCC as an international student).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
