How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026
Citrus College requires anyone with high school, college or university coursework from outside the US to obtain a detailed, course-by-course evaluation from one of its listed agencies, even if a US college already accepted that coursework; F-1 applicants under 18 prove graduation with a foreign transcript evaluation showing US high school equivalency.
Citrus College's evaluation agencies, such as WES, ECE and IERF, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary, and financial documents need an official English translation.
We translate first; the agency then writes the evaluation, which we do not provide.

Citrus College requirements in detail
Translation
Citrus College states no translation rule for transcripts; foreign records reach it through the agency's evaluation (Admissions and Records: foreign transcripts). The translation is what the agency needs first.
Who may translate
Set by the agency: WES, ECE and IERF accept a professional service; ACEI asks for an ATA-certified translator.
Evaluation
A detailed, course-by-course evaluation of high school, college or university coursework from outside the US; original and official documents go to the agency (Admissions and Records: foreign transcripts).
Accepted agencies
Academic and Professional International Evaluations, ACEI, American Education Research Corporation, ECE, Educational Records Evaluation Service, IERF, NACES members and WES (Admissions and Records: foreign transcripts).
F-1 applicants
No academic records for admission at 18 or older; under 18, an official foreign transcript evaluation showing US high school equivalency (Start here: study at Citrus College as an international student). F-1 transfers send only sealed US transcripts (Transfer student admission guide).
Financial documents
In English or with an official English translation, amounts in US dollars or the currency stated (Financial documentation requirements for international students).
Deadlines
No hard deadline; recommended June 15 for fall, November 15 for spring, April 15 for summer (Application deadlines for international students).
Who at Citrus needs an evaluation
The foreign transcripts page of Admissions and Records applies to every student, resident or not, who completed high school, college or university coursework outside the US: the coursework must be evaluated course by course by one of the listed agencies, even if a US college or university has already accepted it.
The agencies are private and charge a fee, and each sets its own procedure; all of them ask for original and official documents.
For an F-1 application the rule is narrower.
Citrus asks applicants 18 or older for the CCCApply International Application, the ISC Supplemental Application, financial documents, a TB form, a passport copy and the $50 fee, with no academic records; applicants under 18 add proof of high school graduation, which for a foreign high school is an official evaluation showing US equivalency (Start here).
F-1 transfers send their sealed US transcripts and no foreign ones (transfer guide). For the high school record itself, see high school diploma translation.
What each evaluation agency asks for the translation
WES wants an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator, such as a certified translation agency, and does not accept applicants' own translations.
ECE asks for complete, literal translations, allows applicants to translate their own documents, and sells an $85 Translation Waiver under which it translates internally for the report.
IERF wants typed, line-by-line translations in the original's format and may require a professional one.
ACEI is stricter: translations must be by an ATA-certified translator in the US or a licensed translator abroad, line by line, with the original-language documents. If you choose ACEI, eVerbary can assign a translator individually certified by ATA on request through a free quote.
Bank statements and sponsor letters
Citrus's financial documentation rules ask for statements that name the account holder, meet the required amount, show the currency and are in English or accompanied by an official English translation.
The page warns that translating documents from outside the US takes time; a certified translation of a one-page statement is usually delivered within a few hours.
Need a certified translation for Citrus College?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.
Documents applicants usually translate
- Secondary school diploma and transcripts (for applicants under 18, and for credit)
- University transcripts and degree certificates, for a course-by-course evaluation
- Bank statements and sponsor letters
- Language school certificates, if you want them reviewed by a counselor
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to Citrus College
The translation of academic records goes to the agency you choose from Citrus's list, with the original documents it asks for; the agency then sends its evaluation according to its own procedure (Admissions and Records: foreign transcripts).
Financial documents and their translations are submitted with the ISC Supplemental Application after the CCCApply application (Start here: study at Citrus College as an international student, International Student Center).
If you need a translator certified by ATA
Some offices accept only a translator who is personally certified by the American Translators Association (ATA). eVerbary assigns one on request, for the languages ATA certifies into English:
$34.95 per page
Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian
$44.95 per page
Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian
To order it, ask for a free quote and write in the notes that the translation is for Citrus College, which program it is for, and that you need a translator individually certified by ATA, plus anything else the office asks for (notarization, delivery by email to the office).
We confirm the price and the translator before you pay. ATA does not certify other languages into English, so no translator anywhere holds ATA certification for them.
For those languages we provide a notarized certified translation instead, at $44.95 per page plus notarization ($34.90 per order); ask the office to confirm it accepts that, and write its answer in the quote notes.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For Citrus College that means we translate your records and bank documents; the course-by-course evaluation comes from one of the listed agencies.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to send my high school records as an F-1 applicant?
Only if you will be under 18 on the first day of classes; then you need a foreign transcript evaluation showing US high school equivalency (Start here: study at Citrus College as an international student).
I already have credit accepted at another US college. Do I still need an evaluation?
Yes. Citrus requires its own course-by-course evaluation even then (Admissions and Records: foreign transcripts).
Which agencies does Citrus College accept?
APIE, ACEI, AERC, ECE, ERES, IERF, NACES members and WES (Admissions and Records: foreign transcripts). WES, ECE and IERF accept professional translations; ACEI requires ATA-certified translators.
Can eVerbary provide an ATA-certified translator for ACEI?
Yes, on request through a free quote, for Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian ($34.95 per page) or Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian ($44.95 per page). ATA certifies no other languages into English.
Does my bank statement need a translation?
Yes, if it is not in English: an official English translation (Financial documentation requirements for international students).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
