How we know · policy checked on October 21, 2026

Binghamton University (SUNY) asks international applicants whose transcripts are not in English to send the original with an English translation, and its Office of Graduate Admissions requires every transcript to be officially translated into English; neither page says who must translate.

Binghamton University (SUNY) accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.

Transfer applicants to the Decker College of Nursing and Health Sciences also need a WES or ECE evaluation, which we do not provide.

Binghamton at a glance

Does it accept eVerbary? Yes

Binghamton asks for the original transcript "with English translations" (first-year) and for graduate transcripts "officially translated into English" (graduate), without restricting who translates, so a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets both. Worth knowing about Binghamton

Sent by a school officer

Undergraduate transcripts count as official only from your school.

WES or Scholaro

The transfer page names them as translation examples.

Scans for graduate

Upload scanned official transcripts; paper only if you enroll.

Binghamton requirements in detail

Translation (first-year)

Transcripts for the three most recent years, listing all courses and grades; if not in English, the original with English translations (Undergraduate admissions: international first-year students).

Translation (transfer)

The original transcript with the English translations, "such as WES or Scholaro" (Undergraduate admissions: international transfer students).

Translation (graduate)

All transcripts must be officially translated into English for review (Graduate admissions: application materials).

Who may translate

Not stated on any of the three pages.

Official delivery (undergraduate)

From a school officer: through the application, by email from a school email domain to international admissions, or by mail to Undergraduate Admissions (first-year, transfer).

Evaluation

Not required for most applicants. Transfers to the Decker College of Nursing and Health Sciences need a course-to-course and degree evaluation from WES or ECE first (Undergraduate admissions: international transfer students).

Degree proof (graduate)

An official attested diploma when the transcript does not show the degree; Indian applicants may use the provisional certificate for admission (Graduate admissions: application materials).

Financial documents

Bank statements with an English translation if necessary (Undergraduate admissions: international first-year students).

Undergraduate: the translation travels with a transcript your school sends

Binghamton's first-year page asks for official transcripts for each of the three most recent years of schooling, listing every course and grade, and, when they are not in English, the original transcript with English translations.

The catch is delivery: a transcript is official only when a school officer sends it, through the application, by email from a school email domain, or by mail (international first-year).

The transfer page repeats the rule and only accepts official transcripts. It gives "WES or Scholaro" as examples of where English translations can come from (international transfer).

Neither page restricts who translates; a certified translation from a professional service is another way to meet it. Bank statements for the I-20 also need an English translation when they are not in English.

Nursing transfers: WES or ECE before review

Applicants transferring into the Decker College of Nursing and Health Sciences with international transcripts must first obtain a course-to-course and degree evaluation from World Education Services or Educational Credential Evaluators, which Binghamton says gives it degrees, courses and grades in US equivalents (Undergraduate admissions: international transfer students).

Other transfer programs (Harpur College, the School of Management, Watson College) list GPA and course prerequisites but no evaluation.

If you need the evaluation, the translation comes first.

WES asks for a word-for-word translation by a professional translator and does not accept translations by applicants; ECE accepts a complete, word-for-word translation in the same format as the original, lets applicants translate themselves, and sells a translation waiver.

Graduate: official translation, scanned upload

The Office of Graduate Admissions asks for scanned copies of official transcripts from each institution, uploaded to the online application; it does not want paper copies unless you enroll, and web printouts of unofficial transcripts are not acceptable.

All transcripts must be officially translated into English for review (application materials).

Two country details: if your transcript does not show that a degree was granted, add an official attested diploma, and graduates from India may submit the provisional certificate of degree, which is accepted as final for admission but must be followed by official proof of completion if you are admitted.

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For Binghamton that means we translate; the WES or ECE evaluation required of Decker nursing transfers comes from the agency, and the official transcript itself comes from your school.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Only for the Decker College of Nursing and Health Sciences, which requires a WES or ECE course-to-course and degree evaluation (Undergraduate admissions: international transfer students).

Do I mail official transcripts for a Binghamton graduate application?

No. Upload scanned copies of official transcripts, officially translated into English; paper copies are needed only if you enroll (Graduate admissions: application materials).
