Bellevue College: Translation Requirements for Documents in Another Language
Bellevue College asks F-1 applicants for a copy of their transcript and an English translation, and accepts online translations (a professional one is not required). Bellevue College accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. Other offices set stricter rules: the International High School Completion program wants a professional translation, transfer credit needs a line-by-line translation from a licensed translator, and Health Sciences asks for foreign prerequisites to be translated and evaluated by a US evaluation agency, which we do not provide.
Professional for credit
Transfer credit and High School Completion ask for a professional translation.
Translation, not evaluation
Transfer credit needs a translation, not a WES report.
Line by line
Credit translations come from a licensed translator.
Bellevue College requirements at a glance
| What Bellevue College asks for | |
|---|---|
| F-1 application | A copy of your most recent transcript (name, classes and grades) and an English translation; online translations accepted, a professional one not required (source). |
| High School Completion | The high school transcript, including 9th grade, professionally translated into English, with name, school, classes and grades (source). |
| Transfer credit | The official transcript in the original language plus a line-by-line translation from a licensed translator; no evaluation report needed (source). |
| Evaluation reports | FIS, WES or AACRAO evaluation reports are not official transcripts (source). |
| Official transcripts | In an envelope sealed by the school, or electronic records sent by the school to evaluations@bellevuecollege.edu (international credit, transfer steps). |
| Country rules | India: attested copies of mark sheets, not originals. Russia: a new Diploma Supplement or Academic Record from the university; no photocopies (source). |
| Timing | Credit is reviewed only for registered students, after admission, and can take up to 8 weeks; prerequisites can be cleared sooner with unofficial documents (FAQ, source). |
| Does it accept eVerbary? | Yes. Bellevue's International Education office asks for a transcript copy and an English translation and accepts online translations, professional not required (how to apply), so a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets it. Three translation standards in one college
For the F-1 application itself, Bellevue's International Education office sets a light rule: upload a copy of the transcript from your most recent school and an English translation, and an online translation will do (how to apply). Admission decisions take about two weeks, and the office does not review transcripts for credit before you are admitted.
The International High School Completion program, for students who finish a Washington high school diploma at Bellevue, asks for the transcript from 9th grade on, professionally translated, and suggests requesting two sets: an unofficial one for the translation and the application, and a sealed official one for the International Education office after acceptance.
Student Central, which awards transfer credit, sets the strictest rule: translations only from a licensed translator, line by line, together with the official transcript in the original language (source). It lists agencies that provide such translations (the Foundation for International Services, Global Education Group, ACEI and Josef Silny & Associates). If you expect to request transfer credit later, read that rule before you order, so one translation can serve both purposes.
Transfer credit: a translation, course descriptions, and two sealed copies
Unlike most colleges, Bellevue does not want a credential evaluation for transfer credit. It needs the official transcript and a translation, and says plainly that FIS, WES or AACRAO evaluation reports are not official transcripts. Because the translator needs a copy too, it suggests requesting two official transcripts from your school (source).
Course descriptions, a syllabus or a prospectus from the year you took the classes help courses transfer; without them, Bellevue reviews course titles only. Foreign accounting and economics usually transfer as electives, and English composition is accepted only from the US, Canada (except Quebec), the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand (source). From India, send attested copies of mark sheets; from Russia, a new Diploma Supplement or Academic Record issued by the university.
Timing matters: Student Central reviews transcripts only for students registered for classes and cancels earlier requests (FAQ). Reviews take up to 8 weeks; to enroll in a class with a prerequisite you can clear it online with an unofficial transcript in a few days (source).
Where Bellevue's pages differ
For foreign prerequisites, Student Central says it needs a translation and not an evaluation report, and that prerequisites can be cleared online with unofficial documents (international credit, transfer steps). The Health Sciences, Education and Wellness Institute says that to use prerequisites from another country your transcripts must be legally translated and evaluated by an international evaluation agency in the United States, and names WES for information only. We have not resolved this; if you are applying to a health program, ask its advisors which rule applies.
Documents applicants usually translate
- Transcript from your most recent school, with classes and grades
- High school transcripts from 9th grade on, for High School Completion
- University transcripts or mark sheets, for transfer credit
- Diploma Supplement or Academic Record (Russia)
- Course descriptions or syllabi, if not in English
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to Bellevue College
F-1 applicants upload the transcript copy and translation in the International Student Portal; High School Completion students later deliver the sealed official transcript to the International Education office (source, source).
For transfer credit, mail the sealed original-language transcript and the translation to Evaluations and Graduation U213, 3000 Landerholm Circle SE, Bellevue, WA 98007, have electronic records sent by the school to evaluations@bellevuecollege.edu, then submit the credit review request form (source).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them. For Bellevue that means we translate transcripts for admission, High School Completion and transfer credit; the evaluation that Health Sciences mentions for foreign prerequisites comes from an evaluation agency.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use an online translation for my Bellevue College application?
Yes, for the F-1 application: Bellevue accepts online translations and does not require a professional one (source). Transfer credit and High School Completion have stricter rules.
Who can translate my transcript for transfer credit at Bellevue?
Only a licensed translator, and the translation should be line by line; you send it with the official transcript in the original language (source).
Do I need a WES evaluation for transfer credit?
No. Student Central says it needs only a translation, and that WES, FIS or AACRAO evaluation reports are not official transcripts (source). Health Sciences prerequisites may be different (source).
When will Bellevue review my foreign transcripts?
Only after you are admitted and registered for classes; requests from unregistered new students are canceled, and reviews can take up to 8 weeks (source, source).
I studied in India. What should I send?
Attested copies of your mark sheets, not the originals (source).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
