Sample translation: a Congolese secondary school transcript

This is what an order looks like when it is delivered, with a fictitious student. The PDF starts with the signed certification page, and the translation follows the original line for line: every abbreviation is explained, stamps, seals and signatures are noted in brackets, and the grid stays the same, so an admissions officer or a credential evaluator can match it without guessing.

What to notice

  • Two school years in the same grid as the original: every subject, grading period, exam and total, so each grade can be read against its maximum.
  • The French rating abbreviations are translated (TB becomes VG, Very good), and every abbreviation is explained in a translator's note at the foot of the same page, including one the original never defines.
  • Dates are written the US way (the original's 02/07/2015 is February 7, 2015).
  • The photo, seals and signatures are noted in brackets where they appear.

Bay Path requirements in detail

Translation

Official high school transcripts translated into English (International students: admission requirements).

Who may translate

Financial documents

In English or with a notarized translation, dated within 6 months of acceptance, 3 months preferred (International admissions).

Funding

$29,000 for bachelor's and master's programs; $6,000 more for a spouse and $4,000 for each child (International admissions).

English

TOEFL 80 or IELTS 6, or SAT/ACT; waived if instruction was in English (International students: admission requirements).

Where to send

Office of International Admissions, 588 Longmeadow Street, Longmeadow, MA 01106 (International students: admission requirements).

Conditional admission

Conditionally accepted students cannot enroll or receive an I-20 until fully accepted (International admissions).

Two translation rules: transcripts and money

Bay Path's undergraduate checklist asks for official high school transcripts translated into English and sets no rule on who translates (International students: admission requirements).

Its international admissions page is stricter for money: financial certification documents must be in English or come with a notarized translation, and must be dated within six months of acceptance, preferably three (International admissions). eVerbary adds notarization for $34.90 per order, so a bank statement and its translation can be notarized together.

What else Bay Path asks for

Besides the translated transcripts, applicants send two letters of recommendation, a one-to-three-page essay in English, a passport copy and a bank statement covering a full year, and all materials go directly to the Office of International Admissions (International students: admission requirements).

Students transferring from inside the US add the I-94, visa, current I-20 pages and a transfer request form (International admissions).

Bay Path also offers graduate programs; check the graduate application for its own document rules.

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For Bay Path that means we translate your transcripts and financial documents and can add notarization; we do not issue evaluations or school documents.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Does Bay Path require a certified translation of my transcripts?

It asks for official high school transcripts translated into English and does not say who translates (International students: admission requirements). A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary qualifies.

Do financial documents need a notarized translation?

Yes, if they are not in English (International admissions).

How much funding must I show?

$29,000 for one year, plus $6,000 for a spouse and $4,000 per child (International admissions).

Can I get an I-20 with conditional admission?

No, only after full acceptance (International admissions).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
