American International College publishes no translation rule of its own: transcripts that are not in English, or that were completed outside the US, require a course-by-course credential evaluation from an active NACES member or the Center for Educational Documentation, sent directly to AIC.

AIC's evaluation agencies, such as WES, ECE and IERF (NACES members), accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. The translation comes first; the evaluation is something we do not produce.

Sample translation: a Congolese secondary school transcript

This is what an order looks like when it is delivered, with a fictitious student. The PDF starts with the signed certification page, and the translation follows the original line for line: every abbreviation is explained, stamps, seals and signatures are noted in brackets, and the grid stays the same, so an admissions officer or a credential evaluator can match it without guessing.

What to notice

  • Two school years in the same grid as the original: every subject, grading period, exam and total, so each grade can be read against its maximum.
  • The French rating abbreviations are translated (TB becomes VG, Very good), and every abbreviation is explained in a translator's note at the foot of the same page, including one the original never defines.
  • Dates are written the US way (the original's 02/07/2015 is February 7, 2015).
  • The photo, seals and signatures are noted in brackets where they appear.

High school and college, course by course

AIC asks for official transcripts for each year of secondary education and for all postsecondary education, and any of them not in English or completed outside the US needs a course-by-course evaluation (International admissions).

That includes the high school record for first-year applicants, not only college work. Translate every year's transcript, with the grading scale, before you open the agency file.

AIC also accepts the PAA (Prueba de Aptitud Académica) English section as proof of English proficiency, alongside TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo, SAT, ACT and PTE (International admissions).

What each evaluation agency asks for the translation

WES wants an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator and does not translate documents itself.

ECE accepts complete, literal translations, including the applicant's own, or translates internally if you buy an $85 Translation Waiver, with no translation delivered to you.

IERF asks for typed, line-by-line, word-for-word translations and may require a professional one. A certified translation from eVerbary meets all three rules.

Need a certified translation for AIC?

$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.

Documents applicants usually translate

  • Secondary school transcripts for every year
  • Secondary school diploma or leaving certificate
  • College or university transcripts
  • Degree certificates, for graduate applicants

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

Uploading the translation to AIC

  • The translation goes to the NACES member or CED with your records; the service submits the evaluation directly to AIC (International admissions).

  • Official English test scores are sent by the testing organization to admissions@aic.edu (International admissions).

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For AIC that means we translate your records; the course-by-course evaluation is ordered by you from a NACES member or CED.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Does AIC require a certified translation?

AIC requires a course-by-course evaluation from a NACES member or CED (International admissions); the agency sets the translation rule. WES wants a professional translator (WES).

Does my high school transcript need an evaluation?

Yes, if it is not in English or from outside the US (International admissions).

Which agencies does AIC accept?

Any active NACES member, or the Center for Educational Documentation (International admissions).

Can I send the evaluation myself?

No. It must come directly from the evaluation service (International admissions).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
