STCC requirements in detail
Translation (admission)
A notarized English translation of the high school transcript; college transcripts notarized, translated into English and in a sealed envelope (International students).
Translation (credit section)
A certified translation of a non-English high school transcript, showing completion of the equivalent of secondary school, with a grade evaluation per subject when possible (International students).
Who may translate
Not stated in the checklist; the credit section says a credit translation and/or evaluation must be performed by a certified evaluation service and highly recommends its listed services (International students).
Recommended services
North American Educational Group, Center for Educational Documentation, World Education Services, and the UMass Amherst Translation Center for translation only (International students).
College credit
Translated into English and evaluated for grading equivalency, with course titles, credit hours and letter grades; no transfer credit without an evaluation (International students).
Deadlines (F-1)
New F-1: June 1 for fall and November 1 for spring. F-1 transfers: July 1 and November 1 (International students).
Notarized translation, original transcript
STCC's checklist asks for a notarized, English translation of your high school transcript, and says the transcript must be an original document that includes the graduation date (international students).
College transcripts must be notarized, translated into English and presented in a sealed envelope.
The living expenses and tuition forms are notarized too, and everything submitted becomes property of the college and is not returned.
Further down, the same page asks applicants with a non-English high school transcript for a certified translation that clearly shows the student completed the equivalent of secondary school, with a grade evaluation for each subject when possible (International students).
A certified, notarized translation of the full transcript, including the graduation line and the grading scale, covers both wordings.
Where STCC's page differs
The admission checklist on STCC's international page asks for a notarized English translation without naming a translator.
The transfer credit section of the same page says a credit translation and/or evaluation must be performed by a certified evaluation service, lists four services (one of them, the UMass Amherst Translation Center, for translation only) and says it is highly recommended to use one of them.
We have not resolved this; if your translation is for transfer credit, ask the International Student Advisor, Michael Rossi (mrossi@stcc.edu), before ordering.
Need a certified translation for STCC?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.
Documents applicants usually translate
- High school transcript with the graduation date
- Secondary completion certificate
- College or university transcripts, for credit
- Grading scale printed with the transcripts
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to STCC
Submit the notarized translation with the original transcript and the online application by the deadline; college transcripts go in a sealed envelope (International students).
eVerbary can mail the notarized translation in a sealed, signed envelope: choose the hard copy at checkout with STCC's address ($19.95 Priority or $37.95 Express in the US) and write in the order notes that it is for STCC.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For STCC that means we translate and notarize your transcripts; the evaluation of college work for transfer credit comes from an evaluation service.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does STCC require a notarized translation?
Yes. The checklist asks for a notarized English translation of the high school transcript (International students). eVerbary adds notarization for $34.90 per order.
Must I use one of the services STCC lists?
STCC highly recommends them and its credit section says credit translations and evaluations must come from a certified evaluation service; the admission checklist names no translator (International students).
What must the translation show?
That you completed the equivalent of secondary school, with grades per subject when possible; the original must include the graduation date (International students).
Can I get credit for college courses taken abroad?
Only with an evaluation showing course titles, credit hours and letter grades (International students).
What are the F-1 deadlines?
June 1 for fall and November 1 for spring for new students (International students).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
