How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026
Azusa Pacific University requires all international undergraduates, first-year and transfer, to submit a Foreign Transcript Evaluation from one of its approved agencies (AICE, ACEI, ERES, Educational Perspectives, FIS or WES), and graduate applicants to have international credentials translated into English, certified by an authorized official, and evaluated by one of them.
APU's evaluation agencies, such as WES and Educational Perspectives, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
You translate first and send the translation to the agency; the evaluation is something we do not provide.

Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
APU requires a Foreign Transcript Evaluation from its approved agencies (first-year requirements, agency list), and WES accepts a certified translation from a professional translation service (WES translation rules); Educational Perspectives does as well, while ACEI asks for an ATA-certified translator in the US. APU requirements in detail
Translation
Undergraduate: no rule of its own; the agency sets it. Graduate: international credentials translated into English and certified by an authorized official (International graduate and doctoral requirements).
Who may translate
Set by the agency for undergraduates; "an authorized official" for graduate credentials, not further defined.
Evaluation
Required of all international students: a comprehensive or course-by-course report with every course, units, grades, GPA and the posted degree (first-year, agency list).
Agencies
AICE, ACEI, ERES, Educational Perspectives, Foundation for International Services and WES; each with the report name to request (Foreign transcript evaluation agencies (PDF)).
Delivery
From the agency to APU, or mailed to you and handed in unopened; plus a copy of your transcripts for APU's records (Foreign transcript evaluation agencies (PDF)).
Transfer
Official course descriptions at application; up to 70 units from a junior college or 90 from a university (International transfer requirements).
Credential programs
Teaching credential applicants use an agency approved by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (International graduate and doctoral requirements).
What APU wants on the evaluation
APU's agency instructions ask for the detailed, comprehensive version of each agency's report, whatever its name: Course-by-Course Report, Detailed Equivalency Report, Comprehensive Report or Course-by-Course Analysis.
It must list every course with units and grades, calculate a GPA and show the posted degree, and for every agency APU asks you to request that the report include the language of instruction.
You send your official original transcripts to the agency, and the sealed report reaches APU directly or through you, unopened.
Transfer applicants also send official course descriptions with the application; APU accepts up to 70 units from a junior college and 90 from a university, evaluated course by course, and you take at least 30 units at APU (International transfer requirements).
If your course descriptions are not in English, translate them with the transcripts. For first-year applicants, see high school diploma translation.
What each evaluation agency asks for the translation
WES wants an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator, such as a certified translation agency, and does not accept translations by applicants.
Educational Perspectives accepts translations from a reputable translation agency or a certified professional translator, and also translates in-house.
ACEI accepts US translations only from ATA-certified translators; eVerbary can assign one on request for the languages ATA certifies. AICE, ERES and FIS set their own rules.
The graduate page adds its own wording: international credentials must be translated into English, certified by an authorized official, and include the posted degree (International graduate and doctoral requirements).
APU does not define the authorized official, so if you are applying to a graduate program, ask Graduate and Professional Admissions whether a certified professional translation meets it.

- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to APU
The translation goes to the agency with your original records.
The evaluation is mailed to APU (Undergraduate Admissions or Graduate and Professional Admissions, PO Box 7000, Azusa, CA 91702) or handed in sealed, with an extra transcript copy for APU's file (Foreign transcript evaluation agencies (PDF)).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For APU that means we translate your records and course descriptions for the agency; the Foreign Transcript Evaluation is ordered by you.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does APU require a credential evaluation?
Yes. All international students must submit a Foreign Transcript Evaluation from an approved agency (International first-year requirements).
Which agencies does APU accept?
AICE, ACEI, ERES, Educational Perspectives, Foundation for International Services and WES (Foreign transcript evaluation agencies (PDF)).
Can I use an eVerbary translation for WES?
Yes. WES accepts translations by a professional translator, such as a certified translation agency (WES).
What must the report include?
Every course, units and grades, a GPA, the posted degree, and the language of instruction (Foreign transcript evaluation agencies (PDF)).
What does the graduate rule mean by an authorized official?
APU does not say (International graduate and doctoral requirements); ask Graduate and Professional Admissions before you order.
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
