Requirements checked on October 28, 2026 from Adams State's public pages (sources).

Adams State University requires an official transcript translation and a credential evaluation for every international transcript, from The Evaluation Company (TEC), its recommended service, or from any NACES member, course by course with a cumulative GPA, mailed directly by the agency.

Adams State's evaluation agencies, NACES members such as WES and ECE, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary, and for TEC eVerbary provides an ATA-certified translator on request.

The translation comes first; the evaluation itself is something we do not produce.

Sample translation: a Congolese secondary school transcript

This is what an order looks like when it is delivered, with a fictitious student. The PDF starts with the signed certification page, and the translation follows the original line for line: every abbreviation is explained, stamps, seals and signatures are noted in brackets, and the grid stays the same, so an admissions officer or a credential evaluator can match it without guessing.

What to notice

  • Two school years in the same grid as the original: every subject, grading period, exam and total, so each grade can be read against its maximum.
  • The French rating abbreviations are translated (TB becomes VG, Very good), and every abbreviation is explained in a translator's note at the foot of the same page, including one the original never defines.
  • Dates are written the US way (the original's 02/07/2015 is February 7, 2015).
  • The photo, seals and signatures are noted in brackets where they appear.

Worth knowing about Adams State

Translation and evaluation

Both required for every transcript from abroad.

TEC at a discount

Custom Adams State application; ATA translators only.

Cumulative GPA

NACES reports must show it, mailed by the agency.

Adams State requirements in detail

Translation

An official transcript translation is required for all international transcripts not in US higher education standards; Adams State does not say who translates (Adams State: international admissions requirements).

Evaluation

TEC (formerly SpanTran) through a custom application at a discounted rate, or a NACES member's course-by-course evaluation with cumulative GPA (Adams State: international admissions requirements).

Who may translate

Set by the agency: WES wants a professional translator, ECE accepts any complete literal translation, TEC an ATA-certified translator (WES, ECE, TEC).

Delivery

Mailed directly from the evaluation agency, in English, with the cumulative GPA (Adams State: international admissions requirements).

Cost

Paid by the student, including any reissue of documents that do not follow the guidelines (Adams State: international admissions requirements).

Graduate programs

Counseling and leadership programs repeat that international transcripts must be evaluated by an approved international credential evaluator (Adams State: M.A. Counselor Education admission).

Deadlines (F-1)

July 15 for fall, December 15 for spring, April 15 for summer (graduate only) (Adams State: international admissions requirements).

TEC or a NACES member: what changes for the translation

Adams State's international admission requirements recommend The Evaluation Company, which built a custom Adams State application that selects the right evaluation at a discounted rate.

TEC accepts outside translations only from translators certified by ATA, or translates in-house after your application is complete (TEC).

If you take the TEC discount, ask eVerbary for a free quote for an ATA-certified translator and say it is for TEC.

If you do not use TEC, any NACES member will do, provided the report is course by course and includes your cumulative GPA. WES wants an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator and does not translate.

ECE accepts complete, literal, word-for-word translations, including your own, or translates internally for an $85 waiver. A certified translation from eVerbary works for both.

Mailed by the agency, in English, with a GPA

Adams State wants the evaluation mailed directly from the agency, written in English, with US equivalencies for grades, credit hours and accreditation and a cumulative GPA.

The student pays for the service and for any reissue of documents that do not follow these guidelines (Adams State: international admissions requirements), so ask for a course-by-course report with GPA the first time.

The same rule covers undergraduate and graduate applicants, on campus or online.

Graduate programs such as the M.A. in Counselor Education add that international transcripts must be evaluated by an approved evaluator, and official transcripts go to the Office of Graduate Studies (Adams State: M.A. Counselor Education admission).

Financial documents and the passport are uploaded to the application portal; undergraduates seeking an I-20 show $27,768 (Adams State: international admissions requirements).

If you need a translator certified by ATA

Some offices accept only a translator who is personally certified by the American Translators Association (ATA). eVerbary assigns one on request, for the languages ATA certifies into English:

$34.95 per page

Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian

$44.95 per page

Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian

To order it, ask for a free quote and write in the notes that the translation is for Adams State, which program it is for, and that you need a translator individually certified by ATA, plus anything else the office asks for (notarization, delivery by email to the office).

We confirm the price and the translator before you pay. ATA does not certify other languages into English, so no translator anywhere holds ATA certification for them.

For those languages we provide a notarized certified translation instead, at $44.95 per page plus notarization ($34.90 per order); ask the office to confirm it accepts that, and write its answer in the quote notes.

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For Adams State that means we translate your transcripts; the course-by-course evaluation with GPA is ordered by you from TEC or another NACES member after the translation is ready.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Does Adams State require a translation of my transcripts?

Yes. An official transcript translation and a credential evaluation are required for all international transcripts (Adams State: international admissions requirements).

Do I have to use TEC?

No. TEC is recommended and discounted, but any NACES member's course-by-course evaluation with cumulative GPA is accepted (Adams State: international admissions requirements).

Can eVerbary provide an ATA-certified translator for TEC?

Yes, through a free quote, for Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian ($34.95 per page) or Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian ($44.95 per page). ATA certifies no other languages into English.

Can I send the evaluation myself?

No. Documents must be mailed directly from the evaluation agency (Adams State: international admissions requirements).

When are the deadlines?

July 15 for fall and December 15 for spring; April 15 for graduate summer starts (Adams State: international admissions requirements).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
