How we know · policy checked on October 21, 2026
The State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy publishes no translation rule: graduates of pharmacy schools outside the United States prove equivalency with an FPGEC certificate and the TOEFL iBT, and only then can they earn the 1,740 intern hours the Board requires.
Documents in another language are translated for the FPGEC, which accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary but not your own.
We translate your pharmacy records and license for the FPGEC process; the certificate, the intern license and the exams are yours to obtain.
Ohio Board of Pharmacy at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
Ohio's rule requires foreign graduates to obtain an FPGEC certificate (Ohio Adm. Code 4729-5-01), and the FPGEC accepts an official translation from "a professional translation service in any country" (FPGEC Bulletin), so a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets the rule that applies. Ohio Board of Pharmacy requirements in detail
Translation
No Board rule; documents in another language are translated for the FPGEC, under its rule (Ohio Adm. Code 4729-5-01: schools of pharmacy and FPGEC, FPGEC).
Who may translate
Set by the FPGEC: an official translator or a professional translation service in any country, never the applicant; every page signed and dated (FPGEC Bulletin: Documentation Requirements).
FPGEC certification
Graduates of pharmacy schools outside the US establish educational equivalency with an FPGEC certificate (Ohio Adm. Code 4729-5-01: schools of pharmacy and FPGEC); the statute adds written and oral English proficiency (Ohio Rev. Code 4729.08).
English
Spoken English is proven with the minimum TOEFL iBT scores set by Board rule (Ohio Adm. Code 4729-5-01: schools of pharmacy and FPGEC).
Internship
At least 1,740 hours of documented supervised practice; no credit until the FPGEC certificate and TOEFL iBT are done (Ohio Adm. Code 4729:2-2-05). Hours worked in another state count if that state's board sends official verification (Ohio Adm. Code 4729:2-2-05: internship credit).
Exams
NAPLEX and the MPJE through NABP, plus a state and FBI criminal records check through BCI (Board handout).
How to apply
Through Ohio's eLicense system (pharmacist licensing page).
The certificate comes first, then the hours
Ohio orders the steps strictly: the Board grants no internship credit for practical experience until a foreign graduate holds the FPGEC certificate and has completed the TOEFL iBT (Ohio Adm. Code 4729:2-2-05: internship credit).
Hours worked abroad, or before the certificate, do not count toward the 1,740. That makes the FPGEC paperwork, and the translations inside it, the first thing to finish.
For the FPGEC, school records go to ECE for its evaluation report and license documents go to NABP (ECE, FPGEC).
Each translation must be an official word-for-word English version, seals and stamps included, with the translator's original signature and date on every page, an accuracy attestation and proof of credentials (FPGEC Bulletin: Documentation Requirements).
Order through a free quote and say it is for the FPGEC, so we confirm the format before you pay.
Where the Board's pages differ
The Board's handout for foreign pharmacy graduates, last updated July 16, 2018, still speaks of an FPGEE certificate and the Test of Spoken English or TOEFL iBT, and mentions 1,500 internship hours in one paragraph next to the 1,740 it requires elsewhere (Board handout).
The current rules name the FPGEC certificate, the TOEFL iBT and 1,740 hours (Ohio Adm. Code 4729-5-01, Ohio Adm. Code 4729:2-2-05).
We read the rules as current; confirm with the Board's licensing department at 614-466-4143 if you are unsure.
Need a certified translation for Ohio Board of Pharmacy?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.
Documents applicants usually translate
- Pharmacy school transcripts, for the ECE report inside FPGEC
- Pharmacy degree certificate
- Pharmacist license or registration from your country, for NABP
- Marriage certificate or court order, if your name changed
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades, hours and credits exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA or equivalency.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload or print.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
- Notarization added at checkout ($34.90 per order) when the office asks for a notarized translation.
Submitting the translation to Ohio Board of Pharmacy
Translations go with your FPGEC paperwork, by mail: education records to ECE and license documents to NABP (ECE, FPGEC). Ohio then relies on the FPGEC certificate (Ohio Adm. Code 4729-5-01: schools of pharmacy and FPGEC).
eVerbary can mail the translations to you in sealed, signed envelopes: choose the hard copy at checkout with your address ($19.95 Priority or $37.95 Express in the US, $49.95 or $78.95 to other countries) and write in the order notes that they are for the FPGEC.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service or a licensing agency: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, we cannot send documents on behalf of the school or authority that issued them, and we do not file the license application.
For Ohio that means we translate the documents you send through the FPGEC process; the FPGEC certificate, the TOEFL iBT, the intern license and the NAPLEX and MPJE are between you, NABP and the Board.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and submit it with the copy of the original wherever the office asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
What does Ohio need from a foreign pharmacy graduate?
An FPGEC certificate and the TOEFL iBT (Ohio Adm. Code 4729-5-01: schools of pharmacy and FPGEC), then 1,740 internship hours (Ohio Adm. Code 4729:2-2-05: internship credit) and the NAPLEX and MPJE (Pharmacist licensure for foreign pharmacy graduates).
Who can translate my pharmacy documents?
The FPGEC accepts an official translator or a professional translation service in any country, not you (FPGEC Bulletin: Documentation Requirements). A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary qualifies.
Do intern hours from before my FPGEC certificate count in Ohio?
No. The Board grants no internship credit until the FPGEC certificate and TOEFL iBT are completed (Ohio Adm. Code 4729:2-2-05: internship credit).
Does the Ohio Board translate or evaluate documents itself?
Its rules publish no translation requirement; equivalency is shown through the FPGEC certificate (Ohio Adm. Code 4729-5-01: schools of pharmacy and FPGEC).
