The initial in front of the name is a person
A Tamil name is often written as an initial followed by a given name — R. Kumar — where the initial stands for the father's name or the family's native village rather than being a first initial in the American sense. Expanded on one document and abbreviated on another, the same person appears under two names, and that is one of the most common inconsistencies in a Tamil file.
