Marathi records from Maharashtra
Marathi is written in Devanagari and civil documents are registered locally: births and deaths by the municipal corporation or the gram panchayat, marriages under the act the certificate cites. Mumbai, Pune and the rest of Maharashtra issue in their own municipal formats, and older records are frequently handwritten.
