The expert warning, and the attestation
Ukrainian court expertise follows the Soviet-inherited pattern: the expert is warned of criminal liability for a knowingly false conclusion and signs the warning, which appears at the head of the report.
Experts are attested and entered in a state register of forensic experts with a certificate number and an expiry, and the report states them. We reproduce the register number, which is what a reader verifies.
State institutes, and private experts
Expertise is carried out by the state scientific research forensic institutes under the justice ministry, by the interior ministry's expert service, or by private attested experts, and the report names which.
The institution is part of the report's weight. We name it and reproduce the case and report numbers.
War-related expertise

Reports are authenticated with the institution's round seal and the expert's stamp, and a document without the round seal is frequently not accepted. We describe each and translate its text.
