The pragmatognomon, appointed by the court
A Greek court may appoint a πραγματογνώμων — an expert — from lists maintained at each court, and the appointment decision states the questions and the deadline.
The parties may also appoint τεχνικοί σύμβουλοι, technical advisers, who attend the expert's work and file observations. They are advisers rather than experts of the court and we name which the document is.
The oath, and the report
The court-appointed expert takes an oath recorded in the file before beginning, and the report sets out the appointment, the oath, the materials, the method and the conclusions.
The oath record is a separate procedural act and we translate it with the report, because it is part of what establishes the expert acted properly.
