National exam certificates
Rwandan secondary school ends in national examinations: O-level after Senior 3 and A-level after Senior 6. The certificates are issued by the national examinations body, today the National Examination and School Inspection Authority (NESA), and earlier by the Rwanda Education Board. NESA also runs an online verification service.
The grading scale was changed in 2022, so certificates from before and after use different scales. We translate whichever is printed, with its key, and do not convert one into the other.
French before the switch
Diplomas from before the 2008 language change were in French. Later certificates are in English and may need no translation; any Kinyarwanda or French stamp on them does.
