REPEJ, the register of judicial experts
Peruvian court experts are drawn from the REPEJ — Registro de Peritos Judiciales — maintained by each judicial district, and an expert must be registered and current to be appointed. The report states the registration number.
That number is how the expert is verified, alongside their professional college registration (colegiatura). We reproduce both exactly rather than describing the expert as court-registered.
The pericia, and the ratification hearing
The informe pericial answers the points fixed by the court, and the experts are then summoned to a hearing to ratify and explain it, where the parties question them. In criminal proceedings the ratification is oral and recorded.
A report without the ratification record is half the evidence. We translate both where the client has them.
Institutional experts, and the Instituto de Medicina Legal
Much Peruvian forensic work is done institutionally by the Instituto de Medicina Legal y Ciencias Forenses of the Ministerio Público, which issues certificates and reports on its own forms with case numbers.
A medico-legal certificate from that institute — commonly used to evidence injuries in violence cases — is a state forensic document and we name the institute, the unit and the case number.

Two fields recur in Peruvian files sent abroad: pericia contable, forensic accounting, and pericia grafotécnica, handwriting and document examination used heavily in property and identity disputes.
