CCI, and the account number that is not enough
A Peruvian account has a bank account number and a CCI — código de cuenta interbancario, twenty digits — used for transfers between banks. Both appear and they are not the same number.
We reproduce each as labelled. The statement also carries the holder's DNI, which is the identifier matching the account to the person.
Soles and dollars in the same bank
Peruvians very commonly hold parallel soles and US dollar accounts at the same bank, and a statement states the currency in its header rather than beside each figure.
A reader who misses the header reads dollar figures as soles or the reverse, which is a factor of nearly four. We name the currency on the first line of every statement we translate.
The ITF, and the small deductions
Peruvian statements show the ITF — the financial transactions tax — as a small deduction on movements, which a US reader reads as an unexplained fee.
We name it. Statements also show cargos por mantenimiento, maintenance charges, and portes, statement delivery fees, which are ordinary Peruvian banking charges rather than penalties.
The constancia, and CTS accounts
Banks issue a constancia or certificate of account and balance on letterhead for formal purposes, which is what a consulate usually requires alongside statements.
Peruvian workers also hold a CTS account — a statutory severance deposit account funded by the employer, with restricted withdrawal — and its balance is not freely available money. We name the account type. See our Spanish page.
Ordering, and what the certification covers
Upload the document, choose certified translation at $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, and it comes back typically within 24 hours as a PDF formatted to mirror the original, with a signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead. Marginal annotations are translated in place, in the margin, and every seal, stamp and registry endorsement is translated with the text. See how we translate and certified versus standard.
Frequently asked questions
Which number do I give for a transfer?
The CCI, twenty digits, for interbank transfers. The account number alone is not enough.
Is this statement in soles or dollars?
The header says. We name the currency on the first line, because reading one as the other is a factor of nearly four.
What is the ITF?
The financial transactions tax, deducted on movements. Not a fee or a penalty.
What is a CTS account?
A statutory severance deposit funded by the employer with restricted withdrawal. The balance is not freely available money.
