The civil registration is the marriage that counts

A Kyrgyz marriage certificate comes from the civil registry and, like the birth certificate, is a bilingual Kyrgyz and Russian form. It records each spouse's surname before and after the marriage, so it is usually the first document to show a wife's change of name.

A religious nikah is common, but it is not a civil registration, and a paper from a mosque does not replace the certificate. US offices, including USCIS for a marriage-based green card, want the civil one. If the marriage later ended, see our Kyrgyz divorce certificate page.

Soviet forms, replacements and digital copies

Marriages registered before 1991 appear on Soviet forms in Russian; they remain valid and are translated as they stand — see our Russian page. A replacement for a lost certificate is issued from the same register entry and carries both the registration date and a recent issue date; we translate both, so the reader sees when the marriage actually took place.

Since December 2025 marriage certificates also exist in digital form in Tunduk, with a QR code. The issuing service treats that version as valid inside Kyrgyzstan and provides the paper form for use abroad. See our Kyrgyz page.

What USCIS requires

Under 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3), a foreign-language document must be accompanied by a complete English translation and the translator's certification that it is accurate. Every seal, stamp and marginal note is part of the document, so every one is translated.

State agencies set their own rules — see government agencies — and what our certification states is on this page.

How it works

Upload a photo or a scan of your document, pick the language pair and check out online. You never have to mail originals: a legible copy is all we need.

A professional human translator, never machine translation, translates the document word for word and mirrors the layout of the original. Every certified translation ships with a signed Certificate of Translation Accuracy that meets the requirements of USCIS, courts and universities.

Your translation is delivered digitally, usually within 24 hours for documents of one to three pages, and same-day delivery is available. If anything needs adjusting, we revise it.

Certified vs. standard translation

A certified translation is a word-for-word translation accompanied by a signed statement attesting to its accuracy and completeness. It is what official bodies require: USCIS, courts, universities and government agencies. Certified translations are $24.95 per page, where one sheet of your document is one page, with no word cap.

A standard translation is the same professional human translation without the certificate, for when you only need to understand the content or for internal or informal use. It is billed at the same $24.95 per page with no word cap.

Frequently asked questions

We only had a nikah. Is there a certificate?

Not a civil one. A religious ceremony on its own does not produce a registry certificate, and US offices generally ask for the civil record. Ask the receiving office what it will accept.

Our certificate was reissued last year.

Normal. The replacement shows the original registration date as well as the new issue date, and we translate both.

My surname on the certificate is in its Russian form.

Common on older documents. We reproduce each name exactly as printed and follow your passport's Latin spelling, with a note where they differ.
