The marriage relations certificate
South Korea abolished the hoju household register on 1 January 2008 and replaced it with the family relations registration system, which issues purpose-specific certificates rather than one general register extract. The marriage is recorded on the marriage relations certificate (혼인관계증명서).
In practice the documents that arrive for translation are usually the basic certificate (기본증명서) and the family relations certificate (가족관계증명서), because most files need parentage and status rather than the marriage alone. Two systems, and romanisation
Because the change happened in 2008, a Korean file routinely holds documents from both systems. A pre-2008 hoju extract and a post-2008 certificate record overlapping facts in different structures, and the translation says which system each came from rather than presenting them as interchangeable.
Korean names are usually three syllables, family name first, and romanise several ways: Lee, Yi and Rhee are one name. We follow the passport and note genuine differences. See our Korean page.
What USCIS requires
Under 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3), a foreign-language document must be accompanied by a complete English translation and the translator's certification that it is accurate. Every seal, stamp and marginal note is part of the document, so every one is translated.

A standard translation is for business or personal use where certification is not needed, such as CVs, client intake forms or marketing material, and is billed at the same $24.95 per page of up to 250 words.
