The diploma supplement and the grade columns

Kazakh universities issue a diploma supplement (приложение к диплому) that serves as the final transcript, and many also print standalone transcripts on request. Under the credit system each course shows credits (national and often ECTS), a percentage score, a letter grade from A to F with FX for a fail that may be retaken, the points on a 4.0 scale, and the traditional grade (excellent, good, satisfactory). We keep every column.

A 4.0 figure on a Kazakh transcript is not a US GPA, and we do not convert it; that is an evaluator's job. See credential evaluation translations and the Kazakh university diploma page.

Bilingual forms and older transcripts

Supplements are usually printed in Kazakh and Russian, sometimes with English as well. Transcripts from the Soviet period and the 1990s list hours instead of credits and grades on a five-point scale, with pass/fail subjects marked зачтено, which we translate as "pass".

Higher-education documents are apostilled by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. USCIS does not require it, and most evaluators do not either; ask yours. See our Kazakh page and our Russian page.

What USCIS requires

Under 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3), a foreign-language document must be accompanied by a complete English translation and the translator's certification that it is accurate. Every seal, stamp and marginal note is part of the document, so every one is translated.

State agencies set their own rules — see government agencies — and what our certification states is on this page.

How it works

Upload a photo or a scan of your document, pick the language pair and check out online. You never have to mail originals: a legible copy is all we need.

A professional human translator, never machine translation, translates the document word for word and mirrors the layout of the original. Every certified translation ships with a signed Certificate of Translation Accuracy that meets the requirements of USCIS, courts and universities.

Your translation is delivered digitally, usually within 24 hours for documents of one to three pages, and same-day delivery is available. If anything needs adjusting, we revise it.

Certified vs. standard translation

A certified translation is a word-for-word translation accompanied by a signed statement attesting to its accuracy and completeness. It is what official bodies require: USCIS, courts, universities and government agencies. Certified translations are $24.95 per page, where one sheet of your document is one page, with no word cap.

A standard translation is the same professional human translation without the certificate, for when you only need to understand the content or for internal or informal use. It is billed at the same $24.95 per page with no word cap.

Frequently asked questions

Will you convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. We translate the grades as printed; a credential evaluator converts them.

What is FX?

A failing grade that can be retaken, as distinct from F. We keep it as printed and translate its meaning.

My transcript is from 1989 and shows hours.

Normal for Soviet transcripts. We translate the hours and grades as printed.

Is acceptance by universities, colleges and schools guaranteed?

Yes. Our certified translations are guaranteed to be accepted by universities, colleges and schools in the United States — and by USCIS, the NVC, courts, government agencies and employers — or your money back. The guarantee covers the translation itself, not the original document or the admission decision, and it covers credential evaluation agencies such as WES and ECE as well. Full terms are in our refund policy.
