The marriage is in the koseki
Japan issues no marriage certificate, for the same reason it issues no birth certificate: the koseki family register records the event. A marriage creates a new koseki for the couple, and the entry in it is the record of the marriage.
What you obtain is either an extract from that register — the koseki tohon (full) or koseki shohon (individual) — or the konin todoke juri shomeisho, the Certificate of Acceptance of Notification of Marriage, which is the document most like a marriage certificate. Era years, and the register's history
Japanese documents date by imperial era — Reiwa, Heisei, Showa — so a marriage in "Heisei 10" is 1998 and nothing on the page says so. Each is converted individually and both shown, because an era year read as Gregorian is decades out.
A koseki tohon runs to several pages and lists everyone in the register, including entries that have been struck through when someone left it. All of it is translated, struck-through entries included and identified as such — see our Japanese page.
What USCIS requires
Under 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3), a foreign-language document must be accompanied by a complete English translation and the translator's certification that it is accurate. Every seal, stamp and marginal note is part of the document, so every one is translated.

A standard translation is for business or personal use where certification is not needed, such as CVs, client intake forms or marketing material, and is billed at the same $24.95 per page of up to 250 words.

Which document should I order?
The koseki tohon is the safest default; the Certificate of Acceptance of Notification of Marriage is the closest thing to a marriage certificate. Ask the office, and prefer a register issued in the last three months.
