Marks out of 20, and sometimes out of 10
Guinean secondary and many university transcripts (relevés de notes) give marks out of 20, with 10 as the pass mark and the French mentions Passable, Assez bien, Bien and Très bien. Some universities working under the LMD system use a 10-point scale with letter grades instead. We translate marks and mentions exactly as printed and never convert them.
For the baccalauréat, applicants abroad are usually asked for the transcript of the baccalauréat unique; older candidates took it in two parts, bac 1 and bac 2, and may need both transcripts, including any failed sittings.
LMD terms on university transcripts
LMD transcripts are organised by semester and teaching unit (unité d'enseignement, UE), with credits. We keep the codes and translate the course names, so an evaluator can match the transcript to the diploma.
Evaluators usually want every year's transcript. See our credential evaluation page, our WES page and our Guinean university diploma page. The transcripts are in French — see our French page.
What USCIS requires
Under 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3), a foreign-language document must be accompanied by a complete English translation and the translator's certification that it is accurate. Every seal, stamp and marginal note is part of the document, so every one is translated.
State agencies set their own rules — see government agencies — and what our certification states is on this page.
How it works
Upload a photo or a scan of your document, pick the language pair and check out online. You never have to mail originals: a legible copy is all we need.
A professional human translator, never machine translation, translates the document word for word and mirrors the layout of the original. Every certified translation ships with a signed Certificate of Translation Accuracy that meets the requirements of USCIS, courts and universities.
Your translation is delivered digitally, usually within 24 hours for documents of one to three pages, and same-day delivery is available. If anything needs adjusting, we revise it.
Certified vs. standard translation
A certified translation is a word-for-word translation accompanied by a signed statement attesting to its accuracy and completeness. It is what official bodies require: USCIS, courts, universities and government agencies. Certified translations are $24.95 per page, where one sheet of your document is one page, with no word cap.
A standard translation is the same professional human translation without the certificate, for when you only need to understand the content or for internal or informal use. It is billed at the same $24.95 per page with no word cap.
Frequently asked questions
Will you convert my marks to a US GPA?
No. We translate the marks as printed; conversion is the evaluator's job.
I took the bac twice.
Many applicants are asked for every attempt. We translate each transcript separately.
What is a UE?
A teaching unit grouping several courses. We translate the term and keep the abbreviation.
Is acceptance by universities, colleges and schools guaranteed?
Yes. Our certified translations are guaranteed to be accepted by universities, colleges and schools in the United States — and by USCIS, the NVC, courts, government agencies and employers — or your money back. The guarantee covers the translation itself, not the original document or the admission decision, and it covers credential evaluation agencies such as WES and ECE as well. Full terms are in our refund policy.
