The tax authority registers vehicles
Guatemala registers vehicles through the SAT, the tax authority, which keeps the Registro Fiscal de Vehículos and issues the tarjeta de circulación naming the owner, the plate and the chassis number.

The transfer, and Form SAT-2
A transfer is made on a SAT form with the seller's signature legalised by a notary, and the tax must be paid before the new card is issued.
An unfiled transfer leaves the seller as the registered owner and liable for the vehicle, which is the same trap as elsewhere in the region. We translate the form and the legalisation.
