Personal status follows religion
Egyptian family law applies the personal status law of the parties' religion: Islamic law for Muslims, and the rules of the relevant church for Christians. There is no single national regime, and there is no civil marriage.
So there is no legal separation in the European sense. Muslim couples divorce; Christian couples, particularly Coptic Orthodox, face very restrictive grounds and may separate in fact for years without any decree.
Talaq, khul and the documentation each leaves
A Muslim husband may pronounce talaq, which must be registered with a ma'zoun and notified to the wife; a wife may obtain khul by court, renouncing financial rights; and judicial divorce on stated grounds is available to either.
Each produces a different instrument. A talaq registration document is not a court judgment and we name which the document is rather than translating everything as a divorce decree.
Christian couples, and the separation that is not a decree
Coptic Orthodox canon law permits dissolution only on very narrow grounds, so a Christian Egyptian couple may live apart for many years with no legal instrument at all, and church tribunals issue decisions that the civil courts may or may not give effect to.
A US reader expecting a decree will not find one. We translate whatever the church or court issued and name the body that issued it.

Egyptian marriages are recorded in a marriage contract registered with the notary, and a dissolution is recorded against it, with a computerised extract issued afterwards.
