The Instituto Caro y Cuervo

Palenquero is a Spanish-based creole from San Basilio de Palenque and San Andrés Creole an English-based one — neither is Spanish, and a certificate in either attests a distinct language. We name it.

Colombia recognises Lengua de Señas Colombiana by statute, with interpreter certification and a state obligation to provide interpretation in public services and education.
