How we know · policy checked on October 21, 2026

Transcript Research requires English translations of records not issued in English by the school: for French, Spanish and Portuguese any typed, word-for-word translation in the same format will do, while other languages need professional translations by official translators in the home country or members of the American Translators Association in the US.

Transcript Research accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary, an ATA corporate member (#273062).

It does not translate as a business and does not accept another agency's evaluation as a translation; eVerbary translates your records and does not order the evaluation.

Worth knowing about Transcript Research

Two rules by language

French, Spanish, Portuguese: any word-for-word translation. Others: professional.

Scans to start

Attach scans to the application; official records can follow.

No evaluations as translations

Another agency's report does not replace a literal translation.

Transcript Research requirements in detail

Translation

Required for documents not issued in English by the educational institution (Transcript Research: FAQ).

French, Spanish, Portuguese

A typed, word-for-word English translation in the same format as the original; no rule on who translates (Transcript Research: requirements and translation policy).

Other languages

A professional translation by an official translator in the home country or a member of the American Translators Association in the US, word-for-word and in the same format (Transcript Research: requirements and translation policy).

Self-translation

Allowed for some select languages, according to the FAQ (Transcript Research: FAQ); the requirements page applies that to French, Spanish and Portuguese.

Bilingual records

For countries such as Egypt, Israel, Japan, Korea, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan and Turkey, Transcript Research wants both the English and native-language versions issued by the institution (Transcript Research: requirements and translation policy).

Unofficial or official

The same translation rules apply whether you order an evaluation from unofficial scans or from official records (Transcript Research: requirements and translation policy).

How to submit

Attach scans to the online application; translations are part of the upload (Transcript Research: applicants).

Its own option

Not a translation company; it can help with some languages for the evaluation only, and has a working relationship with Credential Consultants, a separate ATA corporate member that can email translations directly (FAQ, Transcript Research: requirements and translation policy).

Which rule applies to your documents

Transcript Research splits languages in two (Transcript Research: requirements and translation policy).

Records in French, Spanish or Portuguese need a typed, word-for-word English translation in the same format; anyone may make it.

Records in any other language need a professional translation by an official translator in your home country or by a member of the American Translators Association in the US.

For the first group a professional translation is optional but often still useful, for example when the same translation will go to a university or licensing board with stricter rules. For the second group, eVerbary, as an ATA corporate member, provides the professional translation directly.

Literal translation, not a summary

Transcript Research does not accept another evaluation company's report as a translation; it wants a literal, word-for-word translation of the entire academic record (Transcript Research: requirements and translation policy).

Abbreviated course names are your responsibility to explain: on a course-by-course report, abbreviations stay abbreviated unless you send a syllabus or catalog.

We translate every line of the transcript, keep the original grading scale and render abbreviations as printed, so the evaluator sees exactly what the school issued.

Need a certified translation for Transcript Research?

$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.

Documents applicants usually translate

  • Transcripts, statements of marks and mark sheets
  • Degree certificates and diplomas
  • Secondary leaving or maturity examination certificates
  • Syllabi or course catalogs, for course-by-course reports

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades, hours and credits exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA or equivalency.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload or print.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
  • Notarization added at checkout ($34.90 per order) when the office asks for a notarized translation.

Submitting the translation to Transcript Research

  • Attach scans of your records and their translations to the Transcript Research application; for an evaluation of official documents, the institution then sends the official records (Transcript Research: applicants).

  • eVerbary delivers the translation as a signed PDF, ready to attach.

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, we do not order the evaluation for you, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For Transcript Research that means we translate your records; the evaluation, the official records from your school and any verification are between you, your school and Transcript Research.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and submit it with the copy of the original wherever the office asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Can I translate my own documents for Transcript Research?

For some select languages, yes (Transcript Research: FAQ): records in French, Spanish or Portuguese need only a typed word-for-word translation (Transcript Research: requirements and translation policy). Other languages need a professional translation.

Who may translate documents in other languages?

Official translators in your home country, or members of the American Translators Association in the US (Transcript Research: requirements and translation policy).
