How we know · policy checked on October 21, 2026

IEE requires documents not in English to be translated by a certified translator, and it does not accept translations done by the client, by a notary public, or by a translator who is not certified; translations made at a university in your home country or by the embassy there are generally acceptable.

IEE accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.

IEE also sells its own translations, at $60 per page, and starts the evaluation only once documents, translations and payment are in; eVerbary translates your records and does not order the evaluation.

IEE at a glance

Does it accept eVerbary? Yes

IEE asks for documents to be translated by a certified translator and rejects only translations by the client, a notary public or an uncertified translator (IEE FAQ), so a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets it. Policy checked on October 21, 2026.

Worth knowing about IEE

Certified translator

Not you, not a notary public, not an uncertified translator.

University or embassy

Home-country university or embassy translations are generally accepted.

Evaluation waits

IEE starts only after documents, translation and payment arrive.

IEE requirements in detail

Translation

Required for documents not in English (IEE: frequently asked questions).

Who may translate

A certified translator; a university in your home country or the embassy there is generally acceptable (IEE: frequently asked questions).

Self-translation

Not accepted, nor translations by a notary public or a translator who is not certified (IEE: frequently asked questions).

Timing

IEE does not begin the evaluation until the application, required documents, English translation and payment are received (IEE: terms and conditions).

IEE's own option

Translation by its ATA-certified translators at $60 per page, one business day standard, $50 more per order for 24-hour service (IEE: translation services); adding it extends the evaluation by two business days (terms).

Notarization

Not part of IEE's rule; a notary public cannot stand in for a certified translator.

What IEE means by "certified"

IEE's FAQ draws the line by exclusion: it will not accept translations done by the client, by a notary public, or by any translator who is not certified (IEE: frequently asked questions).

A translation signed by a professional translation service with a certificate of accuracy is the usual way to meet it in the United States.

The notary exclusion matters for applicants from countries where notaries draft translations: in the US a notary only witnesses a signature and does not attest to the translation, so a notarized translation by someone without translator credentials does not qualify.

Where IEE's FAQ is looser

The same FAQ answer says that translations made at a university in your home country or by the embassy there are generally acceptable (IEE: frequently asked questions), without asking that the person be a certified translator. That path is an alternative, not a requirement.

IEE's translation service page describes its own translators as ATA-certified (IEE: translation services). That describes IEE's service; the FAQ does not require ATA certification of outside translators.

Need a certified translation for IEE?

$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.

Documents applicants usually translate

  • Diplomas and degree certificates
  • Transcripts and mark sheets
  • Secondary school certificates
  • Birth or marriage certificates, when the name on your records differs

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades, hours and credits exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA or equivalency.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload or print.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
  • Notarization added at checkout ($34.90 per order) when the office asks for a notarized translation.

Submitting the translation to IEE

  • Include the certified translation with your IEE application and documents; IEE begins the evaluation only once the translation is in (IEE: terms and conditions).

  • eVerbary delivers the translation as a signed PDF, so you can submit it with your other documents as soon as it arrives.

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, we do not order the evaluation for you, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For IEE that means we translate your records; the evaluation and any contact with your home institution are between you and IEE.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and submit it with the copy of the original wherever the office asks for it.
