How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026
Westfield State University requires every transcript from outside the US, high school as well as college, to go to a credential evaluation agency, which sends the evaluation directly to the university; its instructions ask for certified English translations of records and course descriptions, submitted to that agency.
Westfield State's evaluation agencies, such as WES, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
You order the translation first and send it to the agency with your records; the evaluation itself is something we do not produce.

Westfield State requirements in detail
Translation
Certified English translations of records not in English, sent to the evaluation agency with the records (application instructions).
Who may translate
Not restricted by Westfield State; the agency sets its own rule (see below).
Evaluation
Required for all transcripts from outside the US, including high school, college and university, sent directly from the agency (International admissions).
Recommended agencies
Scholaro, TEC (formerly SpanTran), Center for Educational Documentation, WES and Atlas Credential Evaluations, with a discount code for Atlas (International admissions).
English-medium schooling
Ask the Admission Office whether a course-by-course evaluation is required (International admissions).
Graduate
A course-by-course evaluation sent by the agency to graduate@westfield.ma.edu (graduate admissions).
Course descriptions
Official certified English translations for all post-secondary courses completed (International student application instructions (PDF)).
Why high school records go through an agency too
Many universities evaluate only college records from abroad.
Westfield State sends all of them, high school included, to a credential evaluating agency, and the evaluation must reach the university directly from that agency; evidence of a fraudulent evaluation withdraws the application (international admissions).
Its instructions list what the agency needs: the complete secondary school record, every post-secondary transcript with certified English translations, certified translations of course descriptions, and a chronology of your education from grade one; photocopies and faxes are not accepted (instructions).
What the evaluation agencies ask for the translation
WES wants an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator or translation service and does not accept translations by applicants.
TEC, also on Westfield State's list, asks that an outside translator be certified by the American Translators Association; for TEC, eVerbary can assign a translator individually certified by ATA through a free quote.
Scholaro, CED and Atlas publish their own rules; check them before you order.
Undergraduate and graduate steps
Undergraduates apply through the Common Application or the Westfield State Application by June 1, send English test scores, and request the evaluation; transfer students also send official transcripts from any US college (International admissions).
Graduate applicants follow the same order, but the agency must write a course-by-course report and email it to graduate@westfield.ma.edu (Graduate admissions).
Translate first: the agency starts only when your file, translations included, is complete.

Uploading the translation to Westfield State
The translation goes to the evaluation agency with your records, not to Westfield State; the agency sends the evaluation directly to the university, or to graduate@westfield.ma.edu for graduate programs (International admissions, Graduate admissions).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For Westfield State that means we translate your records and course descriptions; the evaluation is ordered by you from the agency after the translation.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does Westfield State evaluate my high school transcript?
Yes. Transcripts from outside the US, including high school, must be submitted to a credential evaluating agency (International admissions).
Which agency should I use?
Westfield State recommends Scholaro, TEC, CED, WES and Atlas (International admissions). Their translation rules differ; WES accepts professional translations (WES).
Do my course descriptions need translating?
Yes. Westfield State's instructions ask for certified English translations of course descriptions for all post-secondary courses (International student application instructions (PDF)).
My school taught in English. Do I still need an evaluation?
Ask the Admission Office whether a course-by-course evaluation is required (International admissions).
Can eVerbary provide an ATA-certified translator for TEC?
Yes, on request through a free quote, for the languages ATA certifies into English (TEC rule).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
