How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026
West Valley College asks F-1 applicants for official copies of transcripts from every high school and college attended, with a certified English translation if they are not in English, and lets foreign transcripts be uploaded to the online application; it does not say who must translate.
West Valley College accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. Credit for foreign coursework also needs a detailed report from a NACES member, which we do not provide.
West Valley College at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
West Valley College's checklist asks for transcripts "with certified English translation (if necessary)" and does not restrict who translates (international students); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. West Valley College requirements in detail
Translation
Official copies of transcripts from all high schools and colleges, inside and outside the US, with certified English translation if necessary (International students).
Who may translate
Not stated; the page lists the Northern California Translators Association among its resources (International students).
Where to submit
Foreign transcripts may be uploaded to the online application; US transcripts are sent by the US school to the International Student Office (International students).
Evaluation for admission
Not listed.
Foreign college credit
A detailed report from any NACES member; IERF recommended, or ECE if you plan to transfer to San Jose State; credit is decided case by case (International students).
Limits on foreign credit
Counts only for West Valley's own programs; not for CSU GE or IGETC, except language other than English for IGETC (International students).
Deadlines
Outside the US: June 1 for fall, November 9 for spring; F-1 transfers: June 5 and December 1 (International students).
Certified translations, uploaded with the application
West Valley College's International Student Office asks for official copies of transcripts from all high schools and colleges you attended, in or outside the US, with a certified English translation where needed.
Foreign transcripts may be uploaded to the online application, so a PDF of the original next to its certified translation is what you send; only US transcripts must come directly from the school.
A signed financial statement, a bank or scholarship letter less than three months old, passport and visa copies, a personal letter, immunization records and proof of English complete the file.
For high school records, translate the diploma and every year of grades, including the grading scale. Holders of a green card are not international students for this purpose: they apply to the college directly, not through the International Student Program (International students).
Credit for courses abroad: a detailed NACES report
West Valley accepts evaluations from any service on the NACES membership list and reviews reports case by case; credit is granted only if the report is detailed enough to place each course.
If you have no evaluation yet, it recommends IERF, or ECE if you plan to transfer to San Jose State University, and you must ask for a detailed report (transcript evaluation guidelines).
The credit applies to West Valley programs only and not to CSU GE or IGETC (except language other than English for IGETC).
The page also warns that four-year colleges run their own evaluation and typically require certified translations of all university-level transcripts, so the same translation can serve your transfer application later.
Where West Valley's page differs on deadlines
The application section of the international students page gives June 1 (fall) and November 9 (spring) for applicants outside the US, with June 5 and December 1 for F-1 transfers.
The FAQ on the same page gives May 1 for fall and November 1 for spring, and says admission documents are issued one month after the deadline. Plan for the earlier dates or confirm with the International Student Office.

- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.

Uploading the translation to West Valley College
Upload the certified translation with a copy of the original transcript to West Valley's online international application, which accepts foreign transcripts as uploads (International students).
For credit, send your records and the translation to the evaluation service you choose, and ask for a detailed report.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For West Valley College that means we translate your transcripts and diplomas; the detailed NACES report for credit comes from an evaluation agency such as IERF or ECE.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
What kind of translation does West Valley College want?
A certified English translation of each transcript not in English; it does not say who must make it (International students). A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary qualifies.
Can I upload my foreign transcripts?
Yes. Foreign transcripts may be uploaded to the online application; US transcripts are sent by the US school (International students).
Which evaluation service should I use for credit?
Any NACES member is accepted; West Valley recommends IERF, or ECE if you plan to transfer to San Jose State, and you must request a detailed report (International students).
Can foreign courses count toward IGETC or CSU GE?
No, except language other than English for IGETC (International students).
I have a green card. Do I apply through the International Student Office?
No. Permanent residents apply directly to the college (International students).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
