How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026
Virginia Peninsula Community College does not admit F-1 students, but residents, immigrants and DACA students with records from outside the US need a course-by-course review by a foreign credential evaluation service, preferably a NACES member, and that review may require a translation.
Virginia Peninsula's evaluation agencies, such as WES and ECE, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
The nursing program asks for documents to be translated by a certified translator; the evaluation itself is something we do not provide.

Virginia Peninsula requirements in detail
Translation
VPCC states no general translation rule; the course-by-course review by the evaluation service "may also include the need for translation" (Transferring to Virginia Peninsula).
Who may translate
Set by the evaluation agency. Nursing: a certified translator (Nursing education initial applicant information).
Evaluation
Course-by-course, from a foreign credential evaluation service; NACES members recommended, other companies checked with VPCC first (Transferring to Virginia Peninsula).
Who applies
Residents and eligible non-citizens, including undocumented and DACA students; VPCC cannot accept F, M or B visa holders (Non-citizen, non-immigrant and international students).
Nursing, high school abroad
If you cannot obtain the transcript, the diploma may be accepted as proof of completion; available transcripts still go to an evaluation service (Nursing education initial applicant information).
Timing
The review is lengthy and can be expensive; start early, and see an advisor for registration in the meantime (Transferring to Virginia Peninsula).
A college for residents, not F-1 students
VPCC is not SEVP-certified, so it cannot enroll students who have or need F or M visas, and B visa holders cannot study either; it does admit eligible non-citizens, including undocumented and DACA students (non-citizen admissions).
Its rule on foreign records is therefore written for immigrants and residents who studied abroad: the transcript goes through a foreign credential evaluation service, course by course, before VPCC can award transfer credit (transfer page).
VPCC recommends a NACES member, because their reports carry what VPCC needs to complete its own evaluation; if you prefer another company, check with VPCC before paying.
You do not need to wait for the evaluation to register; meet an advisor with unofficial transcripts (Transferring to Virginia Peninsula).
What the agencies and the nursing program ask
WES wants an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator or translation service and does not accept translations by applicants. ECE accepts any complete, word-for-word translation, including your own, and sells an $85 translation waiver.
Nursing applicants follow a stricter line: documents that need translation must be translated by a certified translator, and a high school diploma from abroad may stand in for a transcript you cannot obtain (nursing admission).
Need a certified translation for Virginia Peninsula?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.
Documents applicants usually translate
- College or university transcripts and degree certificates
- High school diploma or secondary transcripts
- Course descriptions, if the agency asks for them
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to Virginia Peninsula
The translation goes to the evaluation service with your records; the evaluation report then comes to VPCC, and you file a Transcript Evaluation Request eForm (Transferring to Virginia Peninsula). Results appear in the Student Center of your myVPCC account.
On request we can email the translation directly to the admissions office.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For Virginia Peninsula that means we translate your records; the course-by-course review is ordered by you from a NACES member or another agency VPCC accepts.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does Virginia Peninsula accept F-1 students?
No. VPCC is not SEVP-certified and cannot accept students who have or require F or M visas (Non-citizen, non-immigrant and international students).
Which evaluation service should I use?
A NACES member is recommended; if you choose another company, check with VPCC first (Transferring to Virginia Peninsula).
Do I need a certified translation for nursing?
Yes. The nursing program says documents that require translation must be translated by a certified translator (Nursing education initial applicant information).
Must I wait for my evaluation before registering?
No. The evaluation is unlikely to be finished before registration; VPCC suggests meeting an advisor with unofficial transcripts (Transferring to Virginia Peninsula).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
