Requirements checked on October 28, 2026 from UTMB's public pages (sources).
UTMB publishes no translation rule of its own: applicants from international institutions must use one of three approved credentialing services, Foreign Credentials Service of America, SpanTran: The Evaluation Company or World Education Services, for a verified course-by-course evaluation mailed by the agency to Enrollment Services.
UTMB's evaluation agencies, such as WES and FCSA, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. Translate first, then order the evaluation; the evaluation itself is something we do not provide.

UTMB asks for a course-by-course evaluation from FCSA, SpanTran or WES (international applicant information), and WES accepts a certified translation from a professional translation service (WES translation rules); FCSA does as well. Policy checked on October 28, 2026.

Sample translation: a Congolese secondary school transcript
This is what an order looks like when it is delivered, with a fictitious student. The PDF starts with the signed certification page, and the translation follows the original line for line: every abbreviation is explained, stamps, seals and signatures are noted in brackets, and the grid stays the same, so an admissions officer or a credential evaluator can match it without guessing.

What to notice
- Two school years in the same grid as the original: every subject, grading period, exam and total, so each grade can be read against its maximum.
- The French rating abbreviations are translated (TB becomes VG, Very good), and every abbreviation is explained in a translator's note at the foot of the same page, including one the original never defines.
- Dates are written the US way (the original's 02/07/2015 is February 7, 2015).
- The photo, seals and signatures are noted in brackets where they appear.

UTMB requirements in detail
Translation
No rule of its own; the agency needs the translation before it can evaluate a record not in English.
Who may translate
Set by the agency: WES and FCSA accept professional translations; SpanTran (TEC) only ATA-certified translators.
Evaluation
Course by course, based on authenticated documents received directly from the issuing institutions, showing that coursework and degrees were verified (International applicant information).
Approved agencies
Foreign Credentials Service of America (Austin), SpanTran: The Evaluation Company (UTMB application), World Education Services (International applicant information).
Official transcripts
Not required from the issuing school when a verified evaluation is provided (International applicant information).
Delivery
Mailed by the agency to UTMB Enrollment Services, 301 University Boulevard, Galveston, TX 77555-1305; an evaluation mailed by an individual is unofficial (International applicant information).
Applies to
Admission to programs at UTMB (International applicant information).
A verified evaluation stands in for the transcript
UTMB's Office of Enrollment Services accepts international records only through one of its approved credentialing services.
The evaluation must be course by course and based on authenticated documents that the agency receives directly from the institutions that issued them, and it must state that the coursework or degree was verified (international applicant information).
In exchange, you do not have to send official transcripts from the issuing school to UTMB.
Delivery is strict: the agency mails the evaluation to Enrollment Services. A copy you send yourself is treated as unofficial. Since the agency also gets your records from the school, the piece you supply is the translation, sent to the agency with your order.
What each evaluation agency asks for the translation
WES wants an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator and does not accept your own or translate itself.
Foreign Credentials Service of America accepts certified English translations from most professional agencies in the US or abroad, and for Spanish documents accepts non-certified ones, even your own; it does not translate.
SpanTran (TEC) accepts outside translations only from translators certified by ATA, or translates in-house for a fee; eVerbary can assign an ATA-certified translator on request through a free quote that mentions SpanTran and UTMB.
Need a certified translation for UTMB?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.
Documents applicants usually translate
- University transcripts and mark sheets
- Degree certificates (nursing, health professions, medicine, sciences)
- Course descriptions, if the agency asks for them
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to UTMB
Upload or send your translation to FCSA, SpanTran (through UTMB's application) or WES; the agency collects verification from your school and mails the evaluation to UTMB Enrollment Services (International applicant information). Questions: enrollment.services@utmb.edu.
If you need a translator certified by ATA
Some offices accept only a translator who is personally certified by the American Translators Association (ATA). eVerbary assigns one on request, for the languages ATA certifies into English:
$34.95 per page
Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian
$44.95 per page
Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian
To order it, ask for a free quote and write in the notes that the translation is for UTMB, which program it is for, and that you need a translator individually certified by ATA, plus anything else the office asks for (notarization, delivery by email to the office).
We confirm the price and the translator before you pay. ATA does not certify other languages into English, so no translator anywhere holds ATA certification for them.
For those languages we provide a notarized certified translation instead, at $44.95 per page plus notarization ($34.90 per order); ask the office to confirm it accepts that, and write its answer in the quote notes.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For UTMB that means we translate your transcripts and degrees for the agency; the verified course-by-course evaluation is ordered by you from FCSA, SpanTran or WES.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Which evaluation agencies does UTMB accept?
Foreign Credentials Service of America, SpanTran: The Evaluation Company and World Education Services (International applicant information).
Do I still send official transcripts from my school?
No, when an official verified evaluation is provided (International applicant information).
Can I send the evaluation myself?
No. It must be mailed by the agency to Enrollment Services; one mailed by an individual is unofficial (International applicant information).
Can I use an eVerbary translation?
Yes, with WES or FCSA, which accept professional translations (WES, FCSA).
Can eVerbary provide an ATA-certified translator for SpanTran?
Yes. TEC (SpanTran) requires outside translators certified by ATA (TEC); ask for a free quote, mention SpanTran and UTMB, and we assign one. ATA certifies only some languages into English.
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
