University of Nevada, Las Vegas: Translation Requirements for Documents in Another Language

UNLV asks for a word-for-word English translation of any credential not in English, certified as true by a university official, a US embassy or consulate, the US Information Service, the US Education Foundation, or an approved professional translating service, signed by the translator and sent with the original-language documents. University of Nevada, Las Vegas accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. UNLV evaluates foreign coursework itself, so no evaluation agency is required; a NACES course-by-course evaluation is optional and is not something we provide.

What UNLV asks for
TranslationA certified translation for any high school transcript not in English; for credentials not in English, a word-for-word English translation certified as true (source).
Who may certifyA university official, a US embassy or consulate representative, the US Information Service, the US Education Foundation, or an approved professional translating service (undergraduate, graduate).
Signature and originalsThe translation must bear the translator's signature and travel with the original-language documents (source).
FormatTranscripts in PDF, including the institutional or grading key page; the foreign grading scale is also required (source).
EvaluationIn-house. UNLV accepts a course-by-course evaluation from any NACES member instead, but does not require one (source, transfer).
Undergraduate deadlinesFall: first-year priority Nov 15 and final Jun 1; transfer priority Mar 15 and final Jul 1. Spring: Dec 1. I-20 processing: six weeks before the semester (source).
GraduateSame translation rule. Unofficial transcripts for the application; official ones, sent directly by each school, by the date on the Certificate of Admission (source).
Does it accept eVerbary?Yes. UNLV's international admissions pages list "an approved professional translating service" among those who may certify a word-for-word English translation (undergraduate, graduate); UNLV publishes no list of approved services. A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. Policy checked on October 13, 2026.

Five kinds of certifier, and what "approved" means

UNLV's rule is unusually specific about who may vouch for a translation. It names a university official, a representative of a US embassy or consulate, the US Information Service, the US Education Foundation, and "an approved professional translating service" (source). The same paragraph appears on the graduate page (graduate).

UNLV does not publish a list of approved services or say how a service is approved. What the rule does spell out is the form: word-for-word, certified as true, signed by the translator, and accompanied by the original-language document. A certified translation from a professional service is made word-for-word and carries its certification; send it with the original. If you want to be sure before you submit, ask UNLV International Admissions whether it keeps a list.

PDF, grading key and the in-house evaluation

UNLV converts foreign coursework itself, so the translation is what its evaluators read. Transcripts must be PDF files and include the institutional or grading key page, and applicants also have to provide the grading scale of the foreign school (source). Translate the back of the transcript or the separate grading key along with the grades.

UNLV points applicants to Scholaro for a rough GPA estimate but says its own evaluation may differ. A course-by-course report from any NACES member is accepted in place of the in-house evaluation, which mainly helps if you already have one (source).

Graduate College: China, India and the official-transcript date

The Graduate College lets you apply with unofficial transcripts; once admitted, official transcripts sent directly by each school are due by the date on your Certificate of Admission (source). Application materials are due May 1 for fall and Oct 1 for spring unless your program sets an earlier date.

There are two country rules. Degrees from China need copies of the original-language transcripts plus the Degree Certificate and Graduation Certificate; documents verified by CSSD or CDGDC are also accepted. From India, consolidated mark sheets are fine when yearly ones are not available, but they must come from the degree-granting university, not an affiliated college, together with the Provisional Certificate (source).

Documents applicants usually translate

What an eVerbary translation includes

Uploading the translation to UNLV

Undergraduates apply through the UNLV Application or the Common App, follow their checklist in MyUNLV, and after admission upload I-20 documents to the International Student and Scholar Compliance Portal (source).

Graduate applicants upload transcripts and translations to the online application in the Grad Rebel Gateway; financial documents for the I-20 go to the compliance portal after admission (source, CFC).

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them. For UNLV, we translate and certify your records; the optional NACES evaluation and the official transcripts sent by your school are outside what we do.

Does the translation need the translator's signature?

Yes. UNLV says translations must bear the translator's signature and be accompanied by the original-language documents (source).

No. UNLV evaluates foreign coursework in-house; a NACES course-by-course evaluation is accepted instead but not required (source).

Yes. Transcripts must include the institutional or grading key page, and UNLV also asks for the grading scale of the foreign school (source).
