How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026

The University of West Georgia evaluates most foreign transcripts in its own international office and asks for a NACES or AICE evaluation only when it cannot; graduate applicants must include a certified English translation of every document not in English, and UWG does not say who must make it.

University of West Georgia accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. A formal evaluation, if UWG asks for one, comes from an agency, and we do not provide it.

UWG at a glance

Does it accept eVerbary? Yes

UWG's international graduate admissions page asks applicants to include a certified English translation of all documents not written in English, without restricting who translates (graduate admissions); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. Worth knowing about UWG

Evaluated in-house

UWG evaluates most foreign transcripts itself.

Free for graduates

Course-by-course with GPA at no cost, on request.

From the school only

Transcripts must come directly from your school.

UWG requirements in detail

Translation (graduate)

A certified English translation of all documents not in English (International graduate admissions).

Translation (undergraduate)

No separate rule on the undergraduate page; foreign transcripts are evaluated in-house or by a NACES/AICE member (undergraduate admissions).

Who may translate

Not stated on the admissions pages; see "Where UWG's pages differ" (International graduate admissions).

Evaluation

Done in UWG's office for most transcripts; formal evaluations, if requested, from a NACES or AICE member, course by course with GPA for university work (International undergraduate admissions).

Graduate evaluation

Course-by-course with GPA, free in-house for most applicants who ask global@westga.edu; Education certification programs need a GaPSC-approved agency (International graduate admissions).

Test waiver

Undergraduates seeking an SAT/ACT waiver need an evaluation with a GPA conversion (International undergraduate admissions).

Official transcripts

Sent directly by the school, preferably electronically to global@westga.edu, or by mail to 1601 Maple Street, Carrollton (International undergraduate admissions).

UWG evaluates most records itself

UWG's international office performs the credential evaluation, a US equivalency with GPA, for most foreign transcripts, and asks for a formal NACES or AICE evaluation only when it cannot (International undergraduate admissions).

For graduate applicants the office does this at no cost once your official transcripts arrive and you email global@westga.edu (International graduate admissions).

That makes the translation the document UWG reads, so it must keep every course, mark and degree.

Graduate records must show courses completed, grades or marks and degrees awarded, with a certified English translation of anything not in English (International graduate admissions). Undergraduates should translate the full high school diploma and grades the same way.

Where UWG's pages differ

The graduate admissions page asks applicants to include a certified English translation and does not say who must make it.

The transfer credits page says transcripts "must be translated from a NACES approved organization" for the registrar's transfer evaluation.

We have not resolved this; if you are transferring credit, ask global@westga.edu whether a certified translation from a professional service is enough for your file.

Need a certified translation for UWG?

$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.

Documents applicants usually translate

  • High school transcripts and diploma
  • University transcripts, with courses, grades and degrees
  • Degree certificates
  • Bank documents for the I-20, if not in English

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

Uploading the translation to UWG

  • Your school sends official transcripts directly to UWG, electronically to global@westga.edu or by mail; send your certified translations to the same office (International undergraduate admissions).

  • Graduate applicants then email global@westga.edu to request the in-house evaluation (International graduate admissions). On request we can email the translation directly to the admissions office.

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For UWG that means we translate your records; a formal NACES or AICE evaluation, if UWG asks for one, comes from an evaluation agency.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to pay for a credential evaluation for UWG?

Usually not: UWG evaluates most foreign transcripts in its office, free for graduate applicants (International graduate admissions).

What translation does UWG want for graduate admission?

A certified English translation of all documents not in English (International graduate admissions).

Can I send my transcript myself?

No. Official transcripts must come directly from your school (International undergraduate admissions).

When would I need an outside evaluation?

If UWG cannot evaluate your transcript, or for College of Education certification programs; it must come from a NACES or AICE member (International undergraduate admissions, graduate).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
