How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026
Texas Lutheran University requires international applicants to have every secondary and post-secondary transcript translated into English and evaluated for credit by a NACES provider, with the evaluation sent directly from ECE, IERF or WES.
TLU's evaluation agencies, such as WES, ECE and IERF, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
You order the translation first and send it to the agency; the evaluation itself is something we do not produce.

Worth knowing about TLU
Three evaluators
ECE, IERF or WES, sent directly.
Every transcript
Secondary and college, translated and evaluated.
June 1
Fall deadline; November 1 for spring.
TLU requirements in detail
Translation
Transcripts must be translated into English and evaluated for credit (International student admissions). The agency's own rule decides who may translate.
Who may translate
Set by the evaluation agency; WES, ECE and IERF accept professional translations (see below).
Evaluation
From a NACES provider, received directly from Educational Credential Evaluators, International Education Research Foundation or World Education Services; you pay the agency (International student admissions).
College coursework
All transcripts must be evaluated by a transcript evaluator service (admissions FAQ).
Deadlines
Fall June 1, spring November 1 (International student admissions).
Unofficial copies
Unofficial transcripts sent by email are not accepted (International student admissions).
What each evaluation agency asks for the translation
TLU accepts only three agencies. WES wants a word-for-word translation by a professional translator and does not translate documents itself.
ECE accepts any complete, literal translation in the same format as the original and also sells an $85 waiver under which it translates internally. IERF asks for typed, line-by-line translations and may require a professional one. A certified translation from eVerbary works for all three.
One rule for first-year, transfer and graduate
First-year applicants, transfers and on-site graduate applicants (data science and athletic training) all send official transcripts from every secondary school and college attended, listing courses and grades, translated and evaluated (International student admissions).
Allow time: TLU asks you to plan for mailings, the evaluation and the visa before the June 1 fall deadline, and the $100 application fee goes with the TLU or Common App application.

What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to TLU
The translation goes to ECE, IERF or WES with your records; the agency sends the evaluation directly to TLU (International student admissions).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For TLU that means we translate your records; the evaluation is ordered and paid by you from ECE, IERF or WES.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does TLU require a translation or an evaluation?
Both: transcripts translated into English and evaluated by ECE, IERF or WES (International student admissions).
Can I use another NACES agency?
TLU lists three: ECE, IERF and WES (International student admissions).
Do I need an evaluation for college coursework?
Yes, all transcripts must be evaluated (International student admissions).
Can I email unofficial transcripts?
No, unofficial transcripts sent by email are not accepted (International student admissions).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
