How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026
SUNY Sullivan asks international applicants to have secondary school and college transcripts not issued by a US institution translated and evaluated; it generally uses WES or Globe Language Services, accepts any AICE or NACES service, and tells you to follow that service's instructions.
SUNY Sullivan's evaluation agencies, such as WES, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. You translate first and the service evaluates; the evaluation itself is something we do not provide.

SUNY Sullivan requirements in detail
Translation
Transcripts not issued by a US institution are translated and evaluated; contact the evaluation service for its instructions (International students).
Evaluators
Generally World Education Services or Globe Language Services, both in New York City, or any AICE or NACES member (International students).
What the evaluation states
Your highest level of education and the date of graduation (International students).
Seals and signatures
Documents carry the seal and signature of a school or government official and of the evaluation service (International students).
Where to send
By mail to the International Admissions Office, 112 College Rd., Loch Sheldrake, NY (International students).
Timing
Begin at least three months before the semester (International students).
Translated, then evaluated, by the service's rules
SUNY Sullivan's list puts translation and evaluation in one step: have your secondary school and college transcripts, if not issued by an American institution, translated and evaluated.
It generally uses World Education Services or Globe Language Services, but you may choose any member of AICE or NACES, and Sullivan tells you to contact the service you pick for its specific instructions (International students).
The finished evaluation must state your highest level of education and your graduation date.
So translate the documents that prove both: the final transcript and the diploma or completion certificate that carries the graduation date.
What each evaluation agency asks for the translation
WES, the service Sullivan uses most, wants an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator, which may be a certified translation agency, uploaded in your WES account; WES does not translate documents itself (WES).
ECE, a NACES member, accepts any complete and literal translation in the same format as the original, including your own, and sells an $85 waiver under which it translates internally for the report (ECE).
Sullivan does not ask for the translation separately; it reads the evaluation. Keep a copy of the certified translation anyway, for placement or a later transfer.

Uploading the translation to SUNY Sullivan
The translation goes to the evaluation service with your transcripts. The evaluation, application, FSA-3 and FSA-4 forms, immunization proof and passport copy are mailed to the International Admissions Office in Loch Sheldrake (International students).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For SUNY Sullivan that means we translate your transcripts and diploma for the service; the evaluation is ordered by you from WES or another NACES or AICE member.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
