How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026
Stonehill College asks international first-year applicants for the transcript in the original language together with a copy translated into English, stamped by the notary who made the copy or translation and submitted by a school official, not by the student; it does not say who must translate.
Stonehill College accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
Transfers from a university abroad also need a NACES course-by-course evaluation with a word-for-word literal translation, and that evaluation is something we do not provide.
Stonehill at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
Stonehill's international application steps ask for the original transcript "along with a copy" translated into English and do not restrict who translates (how to apply); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary, notarized at checkout for $34.90 per order, is that kind of translation. Stonehill requirements in detail
Translation (first-year)
The original-language transcript with an English translation; certified copies and translations stamped by the notary who made them (International applicants: how to apply).
Who may translate
Not stated (International applicants: how to apply).
Who submits
A school official, through the Common App or by email or mail; documents sent by students are not accepted (International applicants: how to apply).
Transfers from abroad
A NACES course-by-course evaluation plus a word-for-word literal translation with the originals (transfer applicants).
Agencies named
Any NACES member; SpanTran, WES and ECE most often recommended, with a SpanTran pathway discount (Transfer applicants: how to apply).
Transfer credit
Transcripts not in English need an official English translation; credit from schools without US-recognized accreditation goes to department review (transfer credits).
English tests
TOEFL 80, IELTS 6.5 or Duolingo 120 recommended for non-native speakers (International applicants: how to apply).
Your school, not you, sends the translated transcript
Stonehill does not accept transcripts or recommendations sent by the applicant.
The counselor or another school official submits the transcript through the Common App, or by fax or email when the message clearly comes from a school administrator or an EducationUSA officer (International applicants: how to apply).
If the transcript is not in English, the file needs both the original-language transcript and an English translation; by mail, the original must carry the school stamp and signature.
Stonehill suggests making several certified copies of your only original and having them translated, with the documents stamped by the notary who made the copy or the translation (International applicants: how to apply).
In practice: order the certified translation with notarization, then give the PDF to your counselor to upload with the school documents. Stonehill may contact your school or ask for stamped originals if authenticity is in doubt.
Transferring from a university abroad
Transfer applicants from outside the US need a course-by-course credential evaluation by a NACES member, used to judge curriculum, grades and transferable credit, and documents not in English also need a word-for-word literal translation alongside the originals (transfer applicants).
Stonehill notes that most evaluators can also translate; it accepts any NACES member but most often recommends SpanTran, WES and ECE, and SpanTran offers a Stonehill pathway at a discount.
After admission the Registrar wants official transcripts sent directly from the college, and transcripts in another language with an official English translation (transfer credits).
Credit from institutions abroad without recognized accreditation transfers only after a department chair's review and the dean's decision.

Uploading the translation to Stonehill
First-year applicants: give the notarized translation to your school counselor, who submits it with the transcript through the Common App or by email to admission@stonehill.edu (International applicants: how to apply).
The applicant portal shows which documents have arrived; Stonehill reviews only complete files.
Transfers: the translation goes with your records to the NACES evaluator, which sends the course-by-course report to Stonehill (Transfer applicants: how to apply).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For Stonehill that means we translate and notarize your records; your school must submit them, and the NACES course-by-course evaluation for transfers comes from an evaluation agency.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Can I send my translated transcript to Stonehill myself?
No. Stonehill accepts transcripts only from a school official or EducationUSA officer (International applicants: how to apply); give the translation to your counselor to submit.
Does the translation need to be notarized?
Stonehill says copies and translations should be stamped by the notary who made them (International applicants: how to apply). eVerbary adds notarization at checkout for $34.90 per order.
Do first-year applicants need a credential evaluation?
Stonehill's first-year international steps ask for the original and translated transcript, not an evaluation (International applicants: how to apply); transfers from abroad need a NACES course-by-course evaluation (Transfer applicants: how to apply).
Which evaluation agency should a transfer applicant use?
Any NACES member; Stonehill most often recommends SpanTran, WES and ECE (Transfer applicants: how to apply).
What English test scores does Stonehill recommend?
TOEFL 80, IELTS 6.5 or Duolingo 120 for applicants whose native language is not English (International applicants: how to apply).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
