Bridgewater State requirements in detail

Translation (undergraduate)

A translation must accompany any document in a language other than English (Undergraduate international applicants).

Who may translate

Not stated, except for the Middle East (Undergraduate international applicants).

Middle East

Translations certified by AFME, or by the American Embassy or consulate; applicants already in the US may use the American Consulate or their home country's embassy or consulate (Undergraduate international applicants).

India and Pakistan

A detailed marks sheet and certificate for each examination, properly certified (Undergraduate international applicants).

Records

Transcripts sent directly by the issuing institution, showing courses by year, hours and grades; degree records with the title in the native language, a literal translation and the date (Undergraduate international applicants).

College credit

An external credit evaluation of selected documents; agencies listed: WES and CED (Undergraduate international applicants).

Graduate

Sealed transcripts plus a NACES course-by-course evaluation with GPA from WES, TEC, Educational Perspectives, Josef Silny, ECE or CED; fall deadline June 1 from outside the US (graduate international).

A translation, and a literal degree title

Bridgewater State asks for transcripts sent directly by the issuing institution, listing courses by year or semester, the weekly hours or unit value and the final grade of each course, and says a translation must accompany any document not in English (undergraduate international).

Records of a completed degree must show the title of the degree in the native language as well as a literal translation of the title and the date it was granted; for exam-based systems such as GCE, Bachillerato or Maturity certificates, facsimile copies of the certificates are asked for.

A certified translation keeps the native title and renders it literally, so it fits that rule.

Bridgewater also asks for explanatory material: syllabi, descriptive course titles, lecture and laboratory hours and an explanation of the marking system. These are often the longest documents to translate.

College credit from a non-US institution needs an external credit evaluation (Undergraduate international applicants).

Country rules and graduate applicants

Two country rules apply. Applicants from India and Pakistan supply a detailed marks sheet and certificate for each examination, properly certified.

Applicants from the Middle East must submit translations certified by the AFME or by the American Embassy or consulate; if they are already in the US, the American Consulate or an embassy or consulate of their home country (Undergraduate international applicants). eVerbary is not one of those bodies.

Graduate admissions requires official, sealed transcripts from every post-secondary school and an external evaluation from an approved NACES evaluator, course-by-course with GPA conversion, stating the equivalent of a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution (graduate international).

The agency sets the translation rule; WES, for example, accepts a word-for-word translation from a professional translator.

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

Uploading the translation to Bridgewater State

  • Submit translations with the application documents; official transcripts come directly from the issuing institution (Undergraduate international applicants). For graduate applicants, the evaluation agency can send transcripts with its evaluation (Graduate international applicants).

  • eVerbary delivers a signed PDF; we can also email the translation directly to the admissions office on request.

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For Bridgewater State that means we translate your transcripts, degree certificates and syllabi; we are not AFME or a consulate, and the external credit or graduate evaluation is ordered by you.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
