Worth knowing about STLCC

From the translator

The translation reaches STLCC directly, not through you.

Grading system explained

Course titles, final grades and the scale.

60 days

Materials due before the semester if you live abroad.

STLCC requirements in detail

Translation

Transcripts not in English must be professionally translated; the catalog calls for transcripts certified and translated into English (International student admissions, catalog).

Who may translate

A professional translator, who sends the translation directly to STLCC (International student admissions).

What it must show

Full course titles, final grades and an explanation of the grading system (International student admissions).

Transcripts

Official secondary and college transcripts, sent by postal mail directly from the school to the Office of the Registrar, 5600 Oakland Avenue, Saint Louis, MO 63110-4318 (International student admissions).

Evaluation

Not required for F-1 admission. Diagnostic Medical Sonography asks for an agency evaluation of foreign diplomas (sonography checklist).

Deadlines (F-1)

Outside the US: all materials 60 days before the semester; inside the US: 30 days (International student admissions).

Emailed documents

The certification of finances and the passport copy may be emailed; transcripts and test scores are mailed (International student admissions).

The translator sends it, and the school sends the transcript

STLCC splits the file in two.

Your secondary school and every college you attended mail their official transcripts directly to the Registrar, and the translation of each transcript not in English is sent directly from the translator to STLCC (international admissions).

A translation you upload or forward yourself does not meet that wording. The page asks for the address in capital letters: ST. LOUIS COMMUNITY COLLEGE, OFFICE OF THE REGISTRAR, 5600 OAKLAND AVENUE, SAINT LOUIS, MO 63110-4318, USA.

The translation has to carry the full course titles, the final grade in each course and an explanation of the grading system; the catalog adds that transcripts must be certified and translated into English (catalog).

Ask your school for the legend of its marks if it is printed on a separate sheet, so it can be translated with the transcript.

Why STLCC mentions World Education Services

STLCC names World Education Services as a translator it often uses, and the catalog says you may contact WES for help translating a transcript (International student admissions, catalog).

WES is a credential evaluation agency, and its own page says it does not currently translate documents; it asks for a translation by a professional translator before it evaluates (WES translation rules).

STLCC does not require an evaluation for F-1 admission, so for admission what it needs is the professional translation itself.

Sonography and other programs

Diagnostic Medical Sonography is stricter: all documents from applicants with degrees from outside the US and Canada must be in English, and foreign diplomas must be evaluated by a foreign transcript evaluation agency for degree equivalency and cumulative GPA and include a notarized translation (sonography checklist).

Notarization can be added at checkout for $34.90 per order. The nursing checklists state no separate rule for foreign records.

For domestic admission, students with 15 or more transferable college credit hours need not send a high school transcript unless Enrollment Services asks for one (catalog).

Need a certified translation for STLCC?

$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.

Documents applicants usually translate

  • Secondary school transcripts and the grading scale
  • College or university transcripts, every institution attended
  • Diplomas and degree certificates, for programs such as sonography
  • Bank statement, if it is not in English

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

Uploading the translation to STLCC

  • STLCC wants the translation sent by the translator. eVerbary can mail it to the Office of the Registrar in a sealed, signed envelope: choose the hard copy at checkout with the Registrar's address ($19.95 Priority or $37.95 Express in the US) and write in the order notes that it is for STLCC.

We can also email it directly to the office on request (International student admissions).

  • Your schools mail their official transcripts separately; the certification of finances and the passport copy can be emailed by you (International student admissions).

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For STLCC that means we translate and send the translation; the official transcripts come from your schools, and the agency evaluation that sonography requires comes from an evaluation agency.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Can I send my translated transcript to STLCC myself?

STLCC asks for the translation to be sent directly from the translator (International student admissions). eVerbary can mail or email it to the Registrar for you.

What does the translation have to include?

Full course titles, final grades and an explanation of the grading system (International student admissions).

Do I need a WES evaluation to be admitted?

No evaluation is listed for F-1 admission; STLCC names WES as a translator it often uses (International student admissions), but WES itself says it does not translate (WES).

I am applying to Diagnostic Medical Sonography with a foreign degree. What is different?

You need an evaluation from a foreign transcript evaluation agency and a notarized translation (Diagnostic Medical Sonography requirements checklist); eVerbary adds notarization for $34.90 per order.

When is the deadline?

60 days before the semester if you live outside the US, 30 days if you are in the US (International student admissions).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
