How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026

St. Johns River State College asks international applicants for official transcripts from secondary school and every college attended, all in English and evaluated by a NACES agency, with a course-by-course evaluation for university or college study; it links applications for Josef Silny and WES.

SJR State's evaluation agencies, such as WES and ECE, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary; Josef Silny asks for an ATA-certified translator in the US, which eVerbary can assign on request.

You order the translation first, then the evaluation, which we do not provide.

SJR State requirements in detail

Translation

All transcripts must be in English (International students); SJR State names no translator.

Who may translate

Not stated by SJR State; the evaluation agency sets its own rule (WES: professional translator; Josef Silny: ATA-certified in the US).

Evaluation

By a NACES agency, for secondary and all post-secondary transcripts (International students).

College or university

A course-by-course evaluation must accompany post-secondary transcripts (International students).

High school

You must prove your certificate or diploma equals a standard US high school diploma or GED (International students).

Transfers in the US

At least a 2.0 GPA, in status and in good standing (International students).

What the agencies ask for the translation

SJR State links applications for two agencies. WES wants an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator, such as a certified translation agency, and rejects translations by applicants.

Josef Silny & Associates asks for translations made in the US by ATA-certified translators, or abroad by officially certified professional translators, and has its own translation department.

Any other NACES member is possible too; ECE, for example, accepts complete, word-for-word translations, including your own.

If you choose Josef Silny, eVerbary can assign a translator individually certified by ATA on request (see below).

Every school, in English, with an evaluation

SJR State's rule covers secondary school and every post-secondary institution you attended: official transcripts, in English, evaluated by a NACES agency, and for colleges a course-by-course report (International students).

The high school report has to show that your certificate or diploma equals a standard US high school diploma or GED, so translate the full high school diploma and every year of grades.

Applications go to the Admissions Office by mail or fax, with a $30 non-refundable fee (International students).

Need a certified translation for SJR State?

$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.

Documents applicants usually translate

  • High school (upper-secondary) certificate or diploma
  • High school transcripts
  • Transcripts from every college or university attended
  • Degree certificates

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

Uploading the translation to SJR State

  • The translation goes to the NACES agency with your records, and the evaluation then goes to SJR State's Admissions Office (International students).

  • Application forms can be mailed to the Admissions Office or faxed to (386) 312-4030 (International students). On request we can email the translation directly to the admissions office.

If you need a translator certified by ATA

Some offices accept only a translator who is personally certified by the American Translators Association (ATA). eVerbary assigns one on request, for the languages ATA certifies into English:

$34.95 per page

Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian

$44.95 per page

Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian

To order it, ask for a free quote and write in the notes that the translation is for SJR State, which program it is for, and that you need a translator individually certified by ATA, plus anything else the office asks for (notarization, delivery by email to the office).

We confirm the price and the translator before you pay. ATA does not certify other languages into English, so no translator anywhere holds ATA certification for them.

For those languages we provide a notarized certified translation instead, at $44.95 per page plus notarization ($34.90 per order); ask the office to confirm it accepts that, and write its answer in the quote notes.

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For SJR State that means we translate your records; the NACES evaluation is ordered by you from the agency.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Do my transcripts need to be translated for SJR State?

Yes, if they are not in English: SJR State wants all transcripts in English and evaluated by a NACES agency (International students).

Which evaluation do I need for my foreign university?

A course-by-course evaluation from a credential-evaluating agency (International students).

Can eVerbary provide an ATA-certified translator for SJR State?

Yes, on request, for example if you use Josef Silny. Ask for a free quote and write in the notes that the translation is for an evaluation for St. Johns River State College and needs a translator individually certified by ATA. ATA certifies Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian ($34.95 per page) and Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian ($44.95 per page) into English; no other languages.

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
